When did Obama think there were 57 states?
<snip>

Two weeks or so before the campaign was over, the first round of McCain campaign rumors alleged that Mrs. Palin was a "whack job," and characterized her clothes-shopping as "hillbillies looting Neiman-Marcus from coast to coast." More recently, she has been alleged to know as little about geography as Barack Obama knows about the number of states in the union (at one point, he put it at 57).

Obama isn't that friggin' stupid.

1. poor guy was bone-tired when he said it. I think he wanted to say
that he'd made 57 visits to several states, and it just came out wrong.

7. And what did he learn from that?
I'll tell you what. That he needed to be willing to pull himself off the road from time-to-time when he felt himself getting ragged. I can recall a trip to Hawaii that was not part of the visit to his Grandmother. He also went back to Chicago to spend time with his kids. I was complaining that it seemed like he took a few weekends off. Then you start to see a pattern emerge. He flat ran McCain into the ground because they couldn't afford to get off the road.

It shows me that he was running the campaign, not a group of handlers. Refreshing, isn't it? A candidate that can recognize his limits and turns them into a strength. You don't see that very often these days. I kept waiting for the really dumb move that every politician makes out on a campaign that long and intense. It never happened because he is far smarter and disciplined than anything we've seen in years.

3. there's video of it somewhere
I've seen it but didn't mark it
it was a speech and he was talking about all the traveling he's done, he said something like - I've been to 56 states in the last week.
It was either a slip of the tongue or he was refering to how many times he'd entered a different state.

It was enough of a non issue that I didn't bookmark it and the major media didn't pounce on it.

5. I watched that video. He hesitated right after he said it, the way you do when you
think you just heard yourself say one word when you meant another...

9. why is this being discussed? is there anything about Rezko, Ayers, or Wright too?
must we rehash every bit of garbage that comes out of some rw-story about the election?
They are trying to defend Palin and McRage, but guess what, they lost, it's over, we won
