The post election freeper orgy of fear and finger pointing.
I have spent a great deal of time since the election on the conservative end of the internet. There is a fear there that is kind of alarming. How can these people, with the vast internet at hand, be that scared of Obama and a democratic congress.

I see socialist, communist, terrorist, nazi, thrown around with great abandon. Everyone is trying very hard to voice their aversion to Obama without talking about the race hatred that is there below the surface. They can play the guilt by association game all they want but the only association that really matters to them is his incidental genetic association with the black race.

The American people, in numbers never seen, elected a president last week. Race had little to do with my vote for him. I wanted a president that really seems to care about the working person. One that wants government to be for all Americans. My choice was simple.

To many others the choice was simple also, They saw a black man and voted against him. They say they are scared to death of some kind of forced redistribution with all kinds of unconstitutional left wing punishments for people who work hard and are successful (code for white people). I can see how they would think that he would be after some payback, after all it is what they would do with the power of the presidency. After 21 months how can this man be such an unknown element to them? Google is one click away.

I was afraid of some of the things that may have happened with McCain as president but I can't say that I was ever scared shitless. That is what I see in conservative blogs, hysterical blind fear and the hysterical, blind rage that it brings. They are still chanting the mantra of birth certificate, islamic school, marxist, lefty. How can a man who inspires such hope and optimism cause some people to wet themselves in fear?

The Conservative leadership has done a terrible thing to these people. They have been taught to vote their fears rather than their dreams. That self interest is a virtue and the only reason to care about anything. That rich old white guys who have been in a war are the only ones fit to run our nation.

Obama wants to unite us. Freepers and the like are so used to divisive politics that maybe they see it as the way it should be done in America. Maybe they see Obama as some kind weirdo for trying to work around their treasured wedge issues. Or maybe they just see him as an uppity black man. However the low information haters out there see him they all see a threat. The conservatives like to kill what they see as a threat. They should remember that you cannot shut up a martyr. They had better hope that he stays safe. If anything happens to him the conservative movement will be seen as the culprit and it will be forever doomed.

1. They are afraid of realizing they have been wrong.
The strength of their irrational fear of Obama is directly related to that fear. If Obama doesn't fail, after Bush's complete failure, then they are wrong. They'll never admit it to themselves, but their subconscious knows this. So they are looking for outs, for ways to make Obama scary bad, in order to give reason to the fear, the loss of identity, they feel.

When one's internal reasoning separates from reality, psychosis kicks in. They are psychotic, literally. They can't accept Obama and remain who they are. Thus, this.

And no, it won't get better. Same thing after Reagan's complete failure. Clinton proved beyond any objective doubt that liberalism works and conservatism doesn't, and they hounded him for a decade on superficialities like his youth or his sex life, so they could avoid facing the fact that everything Clinton said would happen did, and everything the Republicans said would happen didn't. They will treat Obama this way. In eight years they will have created a caricature to frighten the boogeyman. It's the only way they have to survive.
