Palin Offered a Spot in ... Pro Wrestling?
By Victor Balta

You knew it wouldn't be long before the offers started rolling in for Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, and the first one is a doozie.

TNA Wrestling (which stands for "Total Nonstop Action) is offering the former Republican vice presidential nominee an honorary spot with the organization's female tag team, "The Beautiful Girls." The offer will be made official on TNA Wrestling's weekly episode of "TNA IMPACT!" at 9 p.m. ET/PT Thursday on Spike.

The outfit wants Palin to take an honorary membership with Angelina Love and Velvet Sky, the two wrestlers who make up "The Beautiful Girls," in exchange for a $50,000 donation to the charity of her choice, or to the youth hockey association in her native Wasilla, Alaska.

If she accepts the offer, the organization will present Gov. Palin with a $50,000 check at “Final Resolution,” its pay-per-view event on Dec. 7, where she'd be asked to make an appearance.

“Governor Palin has combined her experiences as a wife and mother with her political savvy to prove to America and the world that politics aren’t just a man’s game," TNA President Dixie Carter said in a press release. "I know firsthand what challenges you have to face when breaking a glass ceiling in a male-dominated profession.”

2. Damn, Sarah Palin is not going to disappear - the media won't let her -
Neither will the opportunists trying to make a buck off her name and face.

3. Different Dixie Carter...
Dixie Carter (born 1965 or 1966) is an American businesswoman, currently serving as president of the limited liability company TNA Entertainment. Based in Nashville, Tennessee, TNA Entertainment produces professional wrestling television programs, live events, pay-per-views and associated merchandise such as video games.

Carter was born in Dallas, Texas. She graduated from The Hockaday School in 1982 and subsequently attended the University of Mississippi, graduating in 1986 with a Bachelor of Business Administration. While a student, Carter was active on the Student Programming Board, and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma women's fraternity. In addition, Carter worked as an intern with Levenson & Hill, a marketing and advertisement firm in the Las Colinas suburb of Dallas, Texas. Upon graduating, Carter became a full-time employee of Levenson & Hill, receiving a promotion to the position of vice president at the age of 27. In 1993, she started her own business in Nashville, focusing primarily on sport and music representation. <2> <3> <1> <4>

In 2002, the president of Monterey Peninsula Talent (a booking agency) contacted Carter and informed her that Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, a fledgling professional wrestling promotion, required a marketing and publicity outlet. Carter began working with TNA, but, two months later, was informed by Jeff Jarrett (a part-owner of TNA) that a key financial backer (HealthSouth Corporation, which was having its own financial problems due to its being investigated for accounting irregularities) had withdrawn support from TNA, and that the company was in dire straits as a result. <2>

Carter, claiming to " the potential in a marketplace that had one company with a $900 million USD market cap and no competitor", contacted her parents, the owners of Panda Energy International, a Dallas-based energy company. In October 2002, Panda Energy purchased 71% of TNA from the HealthSouth Corporation for $250,000 USD. On October 31, 2002, TNA (which originally traded as "J Sports and Entertainment") was renamed "TNA Entertainment", and Carter was appointed president.

5. Erm, wrestliing fan here
"The Beautiful People" (not "The Beautiful Girls") are a heel (villain) duo. Send the Moose Princess out with them and she'll get booed out of the building. Which would be an incredibly amusing thing to see. TNA fans are extremely vocal and rowdy.
