Since many posts in these threads quickly state that the flag used was not THE Confederate flag.

ALL of these flags are symbols of racism and oppression, not just the navy jack:

2. So is this one:

But, the point is just that: they are symbols. Cloth. Pieces of fabric.

They should be neither chastised nor revered because they are not real people, governments, actions or duties. They are inanimate objects.

Don't give them any power.

3. Check this link. I think it will clear up all your questions.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Confederate_flag

I can also tell you that I currently live in Ga. and also lived in SC for 6 years. When anyone says Confederate Flag, they are referring to the one you listed last in your post. That's the one you always see in the rear window of PU trucks and also the one that flies over the SC State Capitol.

5. The ONLY one I've seen flying anywhere in the last 20 years
is the last one you posted. All the others seem to be in museums.

6. Right - because the people generally flying the battle flag of
the Army of Northern Virginia wouldn't know heritage from a hole in the ground.

The whole idea that a flag - a piece of cloth - can make people turn into ogres - on both sides of the issue - is just odd to me, I must say.

7. At the Texas rest stops at the borders
They have the Six Flags of Texas flying.

I think for the Confederate one they use the Navy Jack because it is the only one WITHOUT the familiar "Stars and Bars".
