Bigots demonstrate what happens to someone who disagrees.
Edited on Wed Nov-12-08 01:32 AM by ColbertWatcher
COVINGTON, La. – An Oklahoma woman invited to a rural Louisiana campsite for a Ku Klux Klan initiation ritual was shot and killed after she asked to be taken back to town, the sheriff of a New Orleans suburb said Tuesday.

(...)

Strain said the woman arrived in the Slidell, La., area last week and was met by two people connected to the Klan group. She was taken over the weekend to the campsite near Sun, La., on the banks of the Pearl River. Sun is about 60 miles north of New Orleans.

--http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081112/ap_on_re_us/klan_slaying">Yahoo! News, Police: Woman slain as she tried to leave KKK rite

But, the GOP-controlled media tries to paint this incident of hatred as isolated by dismissing the responsibility of those involved, saying:
"The IQ level of this group is not impressive, to be kind," Strain said, adding, "I can't imagine anyone feeling endangered or at risk by any one of these kooks."

(...)

"This is not what I would call an established Klan group," he said. "The Klan has a pretty high association with violence. Some of these guys are just crooks, sociopaths."

Bigots will continue to react violently toward their targets as long as the GOP-controlled media pushes the lie that they are all isolated incidents, unrelated to each other, whether it's hatred toward someone of a different race or if it's against homosexuals.

1. "Some"??? Why would anyone who is not a crook & a sociopath be involved with them?
Some of these guys are just crooks, sociopaths."

6. Yeah, it seems the GOP's message of "isolated incidents" is catching on .
Their sheeple have learned their lessons well.

18. Amazing the way the Toady M$M falls right into line with Bushie Talking Points.

Amazing.

Almost as amazing as how swiftly they will soon join into the Bushie Party Loyal-Sub-Media-and-Lie-Laundry's False Outrage and Phony Obama Scandal Creation Machine.

Now THAT, even though I have seen it before and it is as laughably predictable as the Nazi Papers being against the Jews, will be truly amazing.

They will fall into line (with the exception of MSNBC, but only from the hours of 4pm-8pm) with astonishing rapidity just like they lined up to serve the Bushies in the Palin Rehabilitation Propaganda Effort.

Questions to Palin regarding the increased number of death threats to the Obamas in direct relation to her elevated campiagn rhetoric are FORBIDDEN and will be punished MOST SEVERELY by repeated attacks from Freepers and the Bush Party Loyal Sub-Media, which will make your life a living hell.

DO YOU WANT THAT?!?

FORRRRRRRRR-BIDDEN!

2. There are Klansmen still alive?
That's pathetic. I wonder how they feel about a black man becoming President? Well, before their head becomes red jelly that is. :)

7. I thought they were gone too.
But, they're still hiding out there and apparently they've even modernized their robes a bit.

9. Unfortunately, there are thousands, and that's just the KKK.
According to Wikipedia,
"The present Ku Klux Klan is no longer one organization, but is made up of small independent chapters across the United States.<88> The formation of independent chapters has made the KKK groups more difficult to infiltrate and researchers find it hard to estimate their numbers.

KKK members have increased somewhat in recent years, but membership is estimated at 5,000 to 8,000 among an estimated 179 chapters. The latest recruitment drives have used issues such as people's anxieties about illegal immigration, urban crime and same-sex marriage. <89>"

There are lots of OTHER hate groups around as well:

3. What does IQ have to do with being dangerous?...
...If anything, the lower the intelligence, the more prone to violence.

13. and when is a sociopath not dangerous?
I found this article very telling.

I don't doubt these people are not very smart, why else would they not only hide the body under bushes but also their robes and flags.(If I remember the article correctly) If it wasn't the KKK I would suspect a frame-up, but I have known members of this group and have no respect for them in any way, including intelligence. :eyes:

5. The more unfortunate issue is the fact that the economy is crumbling
and their aren't a lot of jobs out here...prime breeding ground for nutcases to group up and start really acting out on their hate.

10. nope...I read some books on cults and hate groups...usually they
start when it's a bad environment economically and some fucker comes along telling them to grab up their guns and start taking matters into their own hands. The people following are usually the uneducated on the verge of crazy anyway folks.

12. yep...my little black family just moved to nebraska from michigan..
we are a real minority in this town. I've met some wonderfully nice people but my husband was warned at work about certain guys whose dads were kkk members and that they were pretty sure the families were still involved with the klan. My son has had no issues at school but some of his buddies have told him to stay away from certain people in a strange sort of way. I think they probably know the family history or something. I have had no issues but I don't venture out too much either unless I'm headed into Lincoln...a major city.

14. Damn.
Stay safe.

I guess it's great that some people do what they can to warn you.

It must be hard to fight it if it's so big a part of one's family.

Good to know, though, that there are some who can or at least try to.

15. Another observation "I can't imagine anyone feeling endangered ..."
"... or at risk by any one of these kooks."

And yet those kooks killed someone.

So, is this guy making excuses for people he knows who might be involved in this murder?

Or is he saying his stupid-ass neighbors should be excused from their crimes because they breathe with their mouths open?

I'm disturbed by this guy's comment.

16. Ooh, one more thing: did the forced exodus after Katrina ...
... of New Orleans' black population make these bigots feel more comfortable coming out of the wood work?

I'm not familiar with the racial distribution in Louisiana, btw, just wondering.

19. I second that
But the sheriff said the public shouldn't feel endangered.

"I can't imagine anyone feeling endangered or at risk by any one of these kooks," Strain said

If they'll shoot one of their 'own' - they'll go after anyone. And I don't believe these are 'loose' groups. They all meet up at Stormfront don't they?
