Hillary Clinton owes an apology to Trinity UCC.
Edited on Sat Nov-22-08 03:02 PM by mycritters2
The one thing that most bothers me about putting HRC in any administration post is that she has not yet taken responsibility for the really awful things her campaign did during the primaries. And of those things, the one I find most irksome was her use of snippets of sermons from Trinity UCC to accuse Obama of being anti-American, etc. Remember, it wasn't Republicans who did this. Indeed, McCain said Trinity was off limits to his campaign. All of that came from the Clintons.

I think she owes an apology to the people and staff of Trinity UCC, and to Obama from attacking his faith. The sermon soundbites were taken out of context, and ultimately forced the Obamas to leave a church they had loved. This is the lowest of the low, imo. I don't think I'll ever respect HRC because of this. But an apology, an acknowledgment that this was beyond the pale might help me to gain some respect. Maybe.

And I would think it would make her more trustworthy to Obama. And it would be the right thing to do.

2. That is flat out, baldly false
First, Clinton didn't ever, not one time, use Wright or anyone else from Trinity in any ad. Not one. In point of fact, it was the media who played those tapes. Oh, and as for McCain, it was the GOP and some independent groups who ran Wright ads in the general election, with not one word from McCain. False, false false. Shame on you for protecting the GOP.

7. You held up McCain as a positive example. Yet McCain said nothing when his supporters

were running Rev. Wright advertisements. Hillary did not run any Rev. Wright advertisements. Why do you praise a Republican for acting worse than the Democrat you're trying to slime?

6. So Hillary should apologize for the media saying things? That's dumb. If you think
she should apologize, it should probably be for things that Hillary herself said. What things, that Hillary said, should Hillary apologize for?

12. I wasn't aware that Hillary was the National Ombudsman.
Clearly, then, she was completely wrong not to use her Magic Hillary Powers to force the cable news networks into giving her opponent more favorable coverage. What a breach of her National-Ombudsman duties.

8. Reverend Wright and those snippets were going to come out sooner or later
it was only a matter of when....during the primary or during the general.

Whether fair or not, that is the harsh, raw reality of politics.

The fact that they came out during the primary gave Obama a chance to recover and for time to elapse so that certain portions of society that were "freaked out" by them could get to know the man and move past the smear.

Had they come out during the general, we might be staring down the barrel of a McCain presidency and seeing Bible Spice a heart beat away from the presidency.......

Do I agree with any of this? Condone it? Like it? No.

It's just politics and it's not going to change any time soon.

9. I agree. Every single bullet Hillary fired at Obama
was a bullet he survived, and a bullet that he recovered from, and a bullet that McCain didn't have to use in October. By the time the campaign in full rolled around, Wright, Rezko, Ayers, and inexperience were all tired and ineffective attacks, and McCain found himself completely out of ammunition.
