Crazy rumor: Has Sam Seder been fired from Air America?
Edited on Mon Mar-19-07 09:02 PM by CaseyBuck
Needless to say, I'm skeptical, but just for the heck of it, here's http://blatherwatch.blogs.com/talk_radio/2007/03/breaking_sam_se.html">the post from BlatherWatch, a Seattle-based radio blog.

Sam Seder has apparently been fired by the new Green Family management of Air America.

We've heard from several readers now that former AAR talker Marc Maron complained Friday on-stage at the Punchline, an Atlanta comedy club that Seder was being fired and that he (Maron) was turning down an offer to replace him.

Seder won't comment; Maron isn't responding to e-mail.

The New York writer, comedian, and film maker with comedian/actor Janeane Garofalo were seminal fare at Air America with their Majority Report. Garofalo left the show amicably in 2006.

Rumors of big changes at Air America have been roiling for weeks since the March 6 sale of the company to the Green Family.

There's no mention of this at Sam's site. We'll just have to wait until tomorrow morning at 9 AM Eastern to see what happens...

2. If they do fire him, it would be as stupid as firing Mike Malloy.
I miss him since my local affiliate decided to air Ed Schultz instead, so I don't listen, but I would listen to Sam.

3. Wouldn't Surprise Me... Everytime They Get Rescued Out Of One Hole
they just jump into a bigger one.

Why IS it, that AAR is continually being handed off to, and run by, bigger and bigger holes?

Fucking Holes!!!

:argh:

7. I hope that this isn't true! Sam has become a big part of my
morning routine. I won't have much of a reason to keep my satellite radios if this is true - especially after Mike was fired. I guess I'll have to contact XM and see how much of my yearly subscription fee I could be reimbursed for, and then I'd have to try to sell off all of my XM satellite equipment.

8. better not. love my sam seder!
he's really grown into a real talent. i remember listening from day 1 of AAR and listening to sam and janeanne. listening to sam now you can tell how much growth he has had as a capable radio personality. it'd be like tossing a gem right before it's last polish.

9. I'm a bit skeptical at this point
I got an email yesterday morning from someone who went to see the same Maron show. I decided not to write about it on my blog until I found a valid reason to do so. My rationale was that there was no time frame mentioned, and that the comments could have been taken out of context.

When BlatherWatch reported on Maron's comments, I felt I should say something. You can read it here:

http://ltradio.blogspot.com/2007/03/those-damned-sam-seder-rumors.html

Is Seder going to be fired? At this point, I doubt it. But never say never.

11. Update
http://blatherwatch.blogs.com/talk_radio/2007/03/marc_maron_spea.html
The end of this story hasn't been told; but Marc Maron gave his side to BlatherWatch tonight. "They made me an offer. Initially it was unclear what time slot I would fill."

Maron says he considered the offer.

His joy, no doubt was dampened when he learned that the new owners' plans for him were for Sam's 9-ta noon time slot.

He says they were going to switch out Seder into the evening.

Maron's better suited for an evening slot, imo; perhaps Malloy's old slot.

14. well I'm already used to listening to him at night. I use the Premium service, and
I save the mp3 file of the show on to my computer.

then I use my TiVo on my TV, to play the file. (My TiVo is connected to both my computer and TV). I do this because my TV is connected to hy home stereo system, so I can listen in real hi-fi, and on the speakers that are in multiple rooms in the house (like the kitchen so I can listen while I do the dishes. makes the job much more injoyable
