Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday
No presents, no commercial crap, just good food and good company, a walk in the brisk November air and Charades.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Hope you have a splendid day no matter where you are and what you're doing.

Oh, and pie. Pumpkin Pie. Apple Pie. Pecan Pie.

2. Mine, too.
Beyond the food and good company, I especially love having a day set aside when we focus on the abundance of our lives and what we have to be grateful for.

Having an Attitude of Gratitude is what it's all about.

:toast: Enjoy and many blessings to you and yours, cali.

4. Mine too
All of the feasting and camaraderie, none of the stress.

I used to get stressed about the cooking, but once you've done it for so long, it's all intuitive anyway.

My sister's beau has brewed a special ale for tomorrow. I'm looking forward to critiquing his work:)

Have a great day, cali!

Yes! Pie! Apple, pumpkin, and sweet potato this year.

:hi:

6. Agreed.
There is nothing better than the combo of turkey, dressing and cranberry sauce, followed by Pumpkin Pie! Our anniversary is around this time, and looking back(although we are having problems now), it was always a special time. Our daughter is pumped and the good cheer is always warming.

9. It is nice that it's not about money but I find it to be a painful holiday
I had a pretty crappy childhood and grew up in a family that could charitably be described as dysfunctional. T-day is so laden with happy family togetherness imagery that it can be hard to take when your own situation doesn't measure up. I used to volunteer to pull people's duty for them when I was in the military and then would work the holiday for people when I worked at a night shift manufacturing job.

Tomorrow I will spend Thanksgiving with my boyfriend's large and loving family. They are very kind to me but there's just something a little off about the whole thing. Genuine expressions of love and caring between relatives are just so alien to me. I will smile and muddle through it because my boyfriend really wants me to be there.

14. I've been trying all day to come up with one good Thanksgiving memory
and I can't. It's a combination of dysfunction and relatives who died way too young. I can't wait until January.

15. I can relate.
I don't spend Thanksgiving with my family, but with my adopted family- and my kid.

It sounds like your boyfriend's family is great. I hope you can relax and enjoy it.

11. I'm going to my second and third dinners tomorrow. :-D
sleep in, mess with my little doggies, pumpkin/cheesecake/cherry/mincemeat pies and all the fixin's. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ONE AND ALL and to you, Cali, especially, for starting this thread. :)

we just had a shooting at our hospital here. My two neices weren't at work today, thank god. Two people dead and one very ill. He was laid off. I am sick for all of them including the shooter. I wish only peace and happiness today for all the world. A person can dream can't they?
