Barack concerned about losing touch with the real world.
When asked by Barbara Walters about whether he was going to keep his Blackberry, he said that he was concerned about getting in a bubble of about 12 people at the White House and losing touch with the real people. I hope he maintains that awareness. That bubble is a danger for all Presidents, I think? I don't see how the Blackberry would be a security threat if he doesn't send emails or text messages that might be intercepted? I say, let him keep it. :-)

1. Maybe its due to heightened security
Blackberry's I assume are easier to hack into than a secure White House line. Other than that, I fail to see a reason why they can't run his email through the White House server on his phone, but i'm not much of a techie.

5. OMG...Barack sounds like he is addicted. I wonder if he is really texting all the time.
I have to slap my husband now and then to get in the real world and stop texting his friends in his band.

3. It has very little to do with hacking his Blackberry
It is all about the requirements of record keeping.

You may recall a previous President who tried to keep taped conversations out of the hands of authorities that were investigating him, and was ordered by the courts to turn them over. Almost nothing that Obama does or says or writes from now on is really private.

4. Yes but all phones store what you write, at least in the short term
until they run out of room. I am sure there is a way to transfer these to a secure WH server once his inbox/outbox/sent is full.

11. Maybe he should sign up for a DU account to keep him grounded in the real world.
On the other hand, never mind.
