Rove to reporter: "How about you go over there and do your job"

http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/16940423.htm

<snip>

Besides his considerable security contingent, the chief executive was accompanied by Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove and Press Secretary Tony Snow.

A reporter approached Rove to ask him what he thought of rumors that former Missouri Sen. Jack Danforth could replace embattled Attorney General Alberto Gonzales. “How about you go over there and do your job,” Rove replied, pointed back to the media pool.

12. I know. No reporter is supposed to do otherwise. If they do,
the Bush Machine goes after them.

13. Karl IS a little touchy
"Scamper back over to the press pool and leave your betters alone" is the way I read his little comment. Karl's apparently much more at ease talking to a group of young law students who can probably still be bullied some by their elders. Somebody armed with a note pad, facts and information is to Karl like garlic and holy water are to a vampire.

3. One could ask the same of Rove.
You know, protecting the country and abiding by the Constitution. That kind of stuff.

4. As Much As I DESPISE Rove, I Agree With Him
The media NEEDS to start doing their jobs.

That would put Rove OUT of a job.

17. I think Mr Ected
means that our compliant media has not done its job for at least the last 14 years or so and that if it had been doing its job for the last six years: a) Bush would not be president; b) Rove would not be whatever his official title is.

So, snarkily Mr Ected is agreeing with Rove, but not in the sense Rove meant.

And now I have completely wrecked Mr Ected's joke. Sorry.

10. He should have told Karl, "How about you do your job and answer the question"
Karl would look good in prison duds, but he would throw anyone under the bus to escape that end.

18. Snippy, KKKarl?
That's quite unusual from all I've heard about Turdblossom and how he "handles" the press. Usually, he is jovial or at least likes to play. Maybe the stress really is getting to the him. Bummer.

:)
