2. Yeah, but even Nixon gave lip service to the idea of
staff testifying --

"And, with ground rules adopted that would preserve the basic constitutional separation of powers between the Congress and the Presidency, I directed that members of the White House Staff should appear and testify voluntarily under oath before the Senate committee which was investigating Watergate.

"I was determined that we should get to the bottom of the matter, and that the truth should be fully brought out—no matter who was involved.

"At the same time, I was determined not to take precipitate action and to avoid, if at all possible, any action that would appear to reflect on innocent people. I wanted to be fair. But I knew that in the final analysis, the integrity of this office—public faith in the integrity of this office—would have to take priority over all personal considerations."

(from the First Watergate Speech, per the website you posted)

booooosh, slimy piece of shit that he is, can't even do that. What an asshole. What a stupid, disgusting, lying asshole.

4. Those Are the Precise Comparisons...
... that the press will begin to make.

What if John Dean hadn't testified under oath?

5. Okay, Olbermann, you better get John Dean on tonight!
Yeah, Dave, I was thinking the same thing. I can still see those b&w images in my memory, but am wondering -- Lawrence O'Donnell notwithstanding -- how much spine the 2007 "press" will have even about this. Olbermann probably, tweety maybe, but the rest?????

6. GOP Senators Facing Re-Election in '08...
... are sweating bullets today.

As for the MSM, I think that in the post-Libby world, there is more skittishness about missing out on the snowballing story than there is a desire to hang back. Just judging by how many cameras are camped out on Capitol Hill these days, which is always a good sign.

7. I wondered if Cheney's phlebitis was the shot across the bow for
his stepping down "for health reasons", setting up the Nixon scenario all over again; put in a moderate R that can't be impugned, like a Ford type....then the bricks fall on bush and out he goes.

The interesting part of this is that if bush gets impeached and convicted, and Cheney isn't gone, w/a
17% approval rating Cheney couldn't take a dump w/o being spat upon....:D

If they both go, Pelosi becomes president....:)

24. Speaking of the HAGUE
Blair, Bush could face probe at The Hague

TONY Blair could face the prospect of an International Criminal Court investigation for alleged coalition war crimes in Iraq.

The court's chief prosecutor said at the weekend that he would be willing to launch an inquiry and could envisage a scenario in which the British Prime Minister and US President George Bush could one day face charges at The Hague.

--snip--

Mr Moreno-Ocampo said it was frustrating that the court was viewed in the Arab world as biased in favour of the West.

Asked whether he could envisage a situation in which Mr Blair and Mr Bush found themselves in the dock answering charges of war crimes in Iraq, he replied: "Of course, that could be a possibility … whatever country joins the court can know that whoever commits a crime in their country could be prosecuted by me."

... the stock footage remains powerful.

Believe it or not, that footage is still played in many college courses on the Presidency.

17. Indeed, Even though Nixon was lying through his teeth,
at least his tone was somewhat cooperative. Not so with the slime that's squatting in today's White House!

and he knew how to say it. Unlike this current moron, he knew how to appear humbled and convincingly take responsibility -- even while lying.
