Legislating "Merry Christmas" In Utah
Spotted this today.
http://www.talk2action.org/story/2008/12/2/125615/953/Front_Page/Holiday_Harangue_Utah_Lawmaker_Wants_To_Mandate_Merry_Christmas_

Right on time, state Sen. Chris Buttars of Utah has appeared. Buttars is promoting a resolution encouraging retailers to use the phrase "Merry Christmas" instead of the more generic "Happy Holidays."

"It would encourage the use of `Merry Christmas,'" Buttars told the Salt Lake Tribune. "I'm sick of the Christmas wars - we're a Christian nation and ought to use the word."

Listen you freak, this is NOT A FUCKING CHRISTIAN NATION. I live here too, as do Muslims, Hindu's and Buddhists. If you want your own country then go fucking find an island to play on. In the meantime, spending Jewish, Hindu, Muslim, and Buddhist tax dollars to legislate that they and their holidays aren't "American" is probably not too fucking bright.

Congratulations Utah you now have the dumbest Senator in America. At least for today.

1. What if the greeter isn't Christian?
Will they force people who aren't Christian to say "Merry Christmas" to people? I can't imagine that's Constitutional.

4. What I don;t get is this: don't these people also celebrate New Year?
See how there are at least two holidays at the end of December, pal, both perfectly acceptable for Christians to acknowledge and celebrate? Oh, that's right - if you recognize New Year in your greeting, good Christian woman are going to be forced into witchcraft or whatthefuckever...

5. Out of Mormon Utah. The irony: Many people do not consider Mormons to be real Christians
I'll take the 5th on that one myself.

7. LOL.. Hell I don't consider Christians to be "real Christians"
Many are the exact opposite. They use their religion to oppress people with a differing point of view. For some reason or other I doubt Jesus would approve.

9. These people really need to look up the etymology of the word "holiday".
After all, we could simply insist on using a greeting like "Merry festivals" or something more neutral.
