I'm sorry but the best the Oakland Raiders can do for that poor boy
who was sold, held, and tortured for a year and escaped is to "treat him to a game." Just heard this on MSNBC. That young man needs more than a game right now. He's lost a year of his life and experienced who knows what. You suppose maybe an offer to pay for some of his care would be too much to ask right now?

My apologies but my reaction is just visceral.

The Oakland Raiders are just a sports team. Care for this unfortunate kid is already in the works. I haven't seen any calls for funds, but this is not in my area, so they may already be out there.

What a sports team can do, and often does, with regard to kids with problems is to treat them to a game, where they meet the players, sit in a great seat, eat hot dogs, and the like.

Is that what this boy needs? Probably not right now, but that's what a sports team has to offer. Now, if someone approached them and asked them for contributions to an established fund, I'm sure many of the players and the team management would gladly kick in.

It's not a zero sum thing.

5. This would be a great opportunity for them to "prime the pump" as it were
in terms of care for the kid. 1k from each player and 20K from the team to start a fund drive would both help the kid (and the team would get way more in return in free, positive publicity).

7. I think it's great. It's probably precisely what this boy needs right now
Any semblance of the normalcy he hasn't had. Any escape from having to relive those horrors in his head is a good thing right now. Until he can get into good psychiatric care anyway.

If so, he'll be treated. It's a case with national publicity. This kid will get all the help that's available. What makes you think he's just going to be turned out on the street?

someone gives a gift, not because they are required to, but just because they wanted to do something nice and you are mad at them for not giving a better gift? They have no responsibility here. They don't know the situation, what the boy needs, etc.

They were just trying to do something nice for someone they heard had been through a bad experience.............

Oh...wait...the Oakland Raiders did not abuse him and are not a charitable\state-funded organization??

Nevermind....nothing to see here except silly misplaced outrage.

Of course, the Raiders do suck pretty bad - perhaps this could construed as further punishment - maybe this is what OP meant
