Wyomingite paints White House Christmas card image (see image, it is nice)
<snip>
"Lawson's image is powerful," Simpson Gallagher said. "His perspective is unique, as it is from the inside looking out.

"There is an intimate view, one that only White House visitors would enjoy. It is a glimpse of the National Mall, known as America's front lawn, from the Truman Balcony of the White House."

Read and see the card's picture at...

1. Just flame me now.
It's a nice picture. Guys a wonder artist. But all I can think about is 1.3 million cards times a minimum of 42 cents each for postage plus the cost of the cards. Probably a million bucks minimum spent on Christmas card by the taxpayer but we can't afford decent physical therapy to a wounded and recovering Iraq war veteran moving back home to his family in some rural corner of the US of A.

Sorry, I'm in a mood.............

3. No flames, but the postage would seem to come
back to us, and some printers, hopefully Union workers, will get some work. Doesn't seem to me like a big deal. Keeping middle class folks working to me is more important than picking nits.

5. Oh and flame me too.
I can do that with Photoshop and the watercolor filter.

I like art that does something more interesting than a snapshot.

2. How cool of him to have this....
...in his portfolio, "...and over here I have the 2008 Christmas card that I painted for the Bush family."

I love artists, and kudos to him for securing such a prominent job.
