WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush, on a collision course with Congress over Iraq, said Friday "I'm the decision-maker" about sending more troops to the war. He challenged skeptical lawmakers not to prematurely condemn his buildup.

"I've picked the plan that I think is most likely to succeed," Bush said in an Oval Office meeting with senior military advisers.

The president had strong words for lawmakers on both sides of the aisle who are lining up to support resolutions opposing his decision to send 21,500 troops to Iraq. He challenged them to put up their own ideas.

"I know there is skepticism and pessimism and that some are condemning a plan before it's even had a chance to work," the president said. "They have an obligation and a serious responsibility therefore to put up their own plan as to what would work."

Bush says that "they" have an "obligation and serious responsibility" to put up their own plan so that he can be skeptical and pessimisstic and, ultimately, be "the Decision-Maker" to nix their plan.

Folks, what is the rest of our government missing that we get? I thought there were both protections and safeguards in our constitution from abuse of executive power? I don't get it.

There's a dynamic at work and it feels positively apocalyptic. Last night there was a problem with our local television station and the station identification screen appeared. My first thought was that we had attacked Iran. :scared:

I'm so often up till at least 2 or 3 am. They always decide to run the emergency test in the middle of something I'm intently watching...late at night...when everyone's asleep...and only a few would hear the warning... :scared:
