1. That's the easy part.
How do we redistribute all of them to teh gays, so they can round-up the X-tians?

4. Tah-dah! All gone!
Edited on Mon Dec-08-08 03:04 PM by Deep13
No discussion, no Congressional debate, just waive the magic wand and they all disappear.

In truth, I'm a shooting enthusiast and have numerous firearms. Several of them would have been illegal under the 1994 act. I voted for Obama and my D. Congresswoman despite their opposition to civilian gun ownership, not because of it. I figured if the economy got so bad that I was eating my shoes, then I probably would not be too concerned about the availability of target ammunition.

9. Well, the word on the street is that they still are
If a Democrat supports reinstating the 1994 ban, he or she considered anti-gun. That's just the way it is.

Fortunately, there's a growing number of Democratic representatives and senators who aren't too keen on the idea of bringing back the ban.

11. Given that there are a lot more important things to recover from that will
be entertaining President Obama's time, I don't think that will be at the top of his list. Also, will the SCOTUS decision last fall make any difference?

12. Agreed about Obama's priorities
I do know that the Brady Camapign has been busy trying to wiggle their way past the Heller decision (this past June, actually).

14. Yes, Obama has bigger fish to fry.
And the SCOTUS decision applied only to a complete ban of private possession insofar that it prohibited handgun ownership in ones own home.

13. Not all of them or even most.
But my Congresswoman does support significant restrictions and I think the new president does too. At some point restrictions have a practical effect of rendering the RKBA meaningless.

Again, I totally voted for Obama and Betty Sutton for Ohio's 13th. Two years ago, I voted for and gave the Federal maximum to Sherrod Brown for Senate. Still, I tend to agree with our Ted Strickland, our pro-civilian-ownership Democratic governor.

16. I think Obama has been ambiguous at best in regards to this issue.
Being a pragmatist, I don't see him passing or trying to pass any type of restriction in the near future. Also, given the Heller ruling I don't know what actually could be passed.

5. The basic assertion is all wrong
It's not whether your guns will be taken away. It's whether your rights will be taken away.

Interesting how changing one little word reframes the entire run on gun stores in the proper perspective.

6. I was talking with a slightly unhinged 60 yo acquaintence yesterday & she's buying a gun now
... cuz she's afraid Obama might try to take it away..??? I mean, it was laughable ... she'd
apparently been talking with some right wingnuts.

My guess is she'd be the LAST person who would buy a gun under "normal" circumstances ... frankly
she's rather emotionally unstable, so I hope to hell she doesn't follow through ...

but it makes me wonder how representative she is.

I wouldn't be surprised if the NRA and arms manufacturers aren't behind all this hoopla about Obama
taking away guns, so that gun sales keep skyrocketing. :puke:

10. I'm going to buy a gun....
...just so Obama will have something to take away. I know he's got his hopes all up and stuff. I don't wanna make him sad. What if he shows up and I have no gun for him to take away? Nothing sadder than a sad-faced Obama.

19. They really don't.
Listening to people talk at the shooting range makes me think I have entered some alternate reality.

20. So, if I don't own a gun, do I have to go get one so that it can be taken away?
And what about the Pony?
