Bush's support falls to all time low (28%) on the eve of the State of the Union address
Only once before has Bush's support been polled below 30% (a Harris Poll about 6 months ago revealed that just 29% of Americans approved of Bush's performance).

Now, on the eve of his State of the Union address, CBS has charted a new low for Bush. Only 28% of Americans approve of the job Bush is doing while 64% disapprove.

The same poll also asked whether the war in Iraq is comparable to Vietnam, and 64% agree that it is. 78% agreed that you can oppose the war and still support the troops. The poll also documents high levels of support for embryonic stem cell research (65%) and for the belief in global warming as a real and current phenomenon (70%).

Been there, done that. Iraq is far worse (more catastrophic potential) than Nam ever was.

6. Is this being reported on the CBS evening news?
I boycott all corporate media, but I would like to know how it's being played if anyone knows.

7. That explains this photo taken this morning when he returned from Camp David.
Ignorant bastard, but he still understands that something's gaining on him.

I don't think I've ever seen a man age as fast as he has--it's like the Picture of Dorian Grey.

17. Small consolation: Bush is at his all time low (to date) BEFORE he vetos the wildly popular laws
the house passed over the last days (and when Bush drops into the mid-20s there will be less resistance to overriding his vetos).

21. No
Tepid response, even amongst his GOP friends. Holy Joe will probably jump out of his seat applauding, which will make him look even more like the weasel he is..

22. Nixon got down to 24%. I think Bush will fall at least another 4% if he vetoes the minimum wage bill
as he has threatened.

19. I should remind everyone that Clinton's low was 41% during Newt's popular height.
Dubya couldn't even break into the 40's last year.

24. I wonder if Bush is suffering from the same paranoia and rage
that Nixon exhibited during his last days in office. Nixon was so crazy that, toward the end, his own cabinet and much of the military were on the point of mutiny. He was drinking heavily, too--and God knows what kind of meds he was taking. It's amazing how W and Nixon's presidencies have kind of mirrored each other--except that Nixon was much, much smarter than W, of course--and on many issues way to the left of almost all contemporary Republicans (and a large number of contemporary Democrats, for that matter).
