Environmental Protections Were Junked To Get Bush's Agreement on Big 3 Rescue - Should We Just Wait?

I have to ask given the opposition of Republicans in Congress, as well as the agreement by Democrats to remove certain environmental protections to secure Bush's agreement, shouldn't we just wait until January 20th?

If the Republicans are going to be pricks about the auto industry bailout, then we should blow them off, and wait until January 20, and put the environmental protections back in the bill.
