Sports radio in Boston: Schilling should run against Kerry in 08
Curt Schilling is awesome...on the mound. Off of it, he's a loud mouthed, obnoxious, fundie right wing attention whore. This is a guy who's main charity is finding a cure for ALS...but is opposed to stem cell research?

Curt, kitten, sweetheart, I love the fact that you beat the Yankees. I hate the fact that the first thing out of your mouth the day after the WS was "Vote Bush". Do not do this. You will lose, badly, and you will further tarnish the image New Englanders have of you. Don't listen to the awful sports radio guys, not even they will vote for you.

It's kinda sad really. My family has been die-hard Steeler fans since the 70's; Swann was one of my favorite players during those years. But vote for him for Governor? No way! My Dad (who still lives in PA) would tell me of all the stupid gaffes Swann committed during his campaign and we'd laugh hysterically. The man clearly did not have the mental capacity or knowledge to be governor. Pennsylvanians were smart enough to figure that out, let's hope those in Massachusetts are too if Schilling decides to run.

22. "Montague"?
Is that middle name . . . French?

Yeah, Kerry, a professional politician with a campaign war chest over $15 million is really shaking in his boots about the prospect of a Schilling candidacy. I have a suggested slogan for any Schilling run, offered free of charge: "Curt Schilling: He's not Lynn Swann, so stop saying that!"

Let that person reply. And it's not a fucking "leap of logic." Southern and Texas bashing are more than common here. So how about letting the person respond to my post!!!

32. Read between the lines
Right winger - must be from Texas. Only someone that is totally naive would think that Texas isn't bashed and that if someone is a fundie or conservative, then he "must be from Texas." Fortunately, he replied in kind. But someone like you can't seem to mind his own business.

Apparently, you like to butt in whenever you want. And no, you can't butt in to "whoever the fuck you want." Stalking is a terrible thing, and being stalked by someone like you is something I don't need to experience.

And by the way, there is a function where you can capitalize letters. I know you folks up north are so much more intelligent than we ignorant Texans. I believe starting a sentence with a capital letter is a standard practice.

Man, being a jerk is easy. Thanks for the helpful lessons.

33. Lifelong Sox fan here as well and he lost me during the 04 Series
When he came out during and after the World Series to proclaim at every opportunity that everyone "should get out their and vote for George W. Bush". Kind of took a little bit of sweetness off of that win, for me at least.

Edited on Fri Jan-26-07 12:39 PM by Cascadian
On the football field, he did wonders for the Seattle Seahawks in the 70's and 80's but off the field, he was a full-on rightie fundie from Oklahoma.

It amazes me how many righties are pro athletes. I guess with all that money and testosterone, it is hard to think with your brain. :eyes:

35. You know, if should introduce an "Athletic Freedom Act"
To halt the right-wing bias in professional sports!...Not really, but if we follow the logic that conservatives use to go after professors, then why not do the same thing for professional athletes? Or what about cops and firefighters? Or the military? These are right-leaning professions in the same way academia and Hollywood lean to the left, in that ideology will often lead people to turn to a career that reflects their world outlook. Of course, there are exceptions (Heath Shuler...also, Kos and Olbermann are HUGE sports fans) but if we want to be stereotypical, that professional athletes more or less lean to the right as a whole.

Torkildsen is crazy, but I don't know if he is that crazy.

He's a real pro on that mound.

But his politics suck.

If he runs against John Kerry, John Kerry will kick his rightwing ass from here to Hong Kong.

34. He thinks because he was the "face" to the 04' team
That he was elevated to some sort of "special" position of honor in Boston and that he can do no wrong. Somehow Curt, you haven't thought your cunning plan through to its logical conclusion. The people of Mass. actually use their brains to choose their candidates - you wouldn't stand a chance against Kerry. Period. Try your run somewhere where the people are brainwashed sheep - but even you will find that hard to find nowadays.

Curt, thanks for helping win the Series for my beloved Red Sox, but STFU and pitch a complete season.
