So what happens if Rick Warren becomes more open minded after hanging around with Obama?
And then he begins to reject some of his goof ball ideas? And what if by him doing that some of his admirers open up their own eyes and do the same? I have seen stranger things happen.

Would that be a positive thing?

Don

1. That's something I'm going to have to see to believe.
Not until then.

21. giving such an impressive assignment to such a soiled nasty mean spirited
jerk who talks smoothly is really shocking to see Obama OK. I am nauseous over this - it SO smacks in the face of progressive thought - Warren is stuck in the 1800's with his women can't serve alone in the church, Gays are all pedophiles and akin to incest, and on top of that - damn, the jerk was one of the biggest names FOR proposition 8! How sick...

I certainly won't be backing Obama like I did up to this point, as I had done from the moment Edwards dropped out January 29th or so...

7. There is no room for that in the evangelical purview
Warren's differences with Obama aren't personal, they're ideological. Evangelicals don't budge on issues like choice and gay marriage. Would it be nice if it happened? Sure, but Warren is just another in a long line of for profit hate mongers.

8. Won't happen.
The best case scenario is Warren loses credibility within his own movement and begins his decline and fall.

9. What if I was struck by lightning?
What if people had gills?
What if an asteroid hit the earth?
What if I put aluminum foil in the microwave?
What if you were invisible?
What if I threw a penny off the Empire State Building?

If you try to fail, and succeed, which have you done?

19. well... if that happened, you'd look like this -

and gill people would look like this -

and the Earth would look like this -

this would happen to your microwave -

I'd look like this if I was invisible -

What would happen if you threw a penny off the Empire State Building? -
You'd be a penny poorer, that's for sure.

I think I failed by succeeding in my post... forgive me. I feel B*sh-like right now.

10. and what if we discover that President "Separate but equal" Obama
was primarily influenced in his opinion of separate rights for gays by the bash-a-fruit-for-Jesus man?

20. amen, Kevin, amen!
I don't like this ONE bit. It's wrong to give a F((K))G jerk who was a strong proponent of PROP "H8" such a noble role in the Inauguration. Such a slap in the face to GLBT and their backers.

C'mon Obama, get rid of him!

(see my General Discussion:Presidential post titled "President Elect Obama" and please write him in the link I provide in it)

11. Could happen - if the price is right.
But looking at the paymasters, they have reasons for the cash laid out to build the fundamentalist movement these last 30 years.

So my guess is - ain't gonna happen.

People like Warren aren't in it out of conviction.

15. Even if SOMETHING Happened, that wouldn't be It.
I think Warren will be hard-pressed to bad-mouth Obama after this. But that's about the only change I expect.

Oh wait, one other. Warren might be able to calm the Palin whackos. That would be worth a LOT.

18. Did you miss his books or his sermons or his interviews?
His beliefs are carved in stone. He has clearly stated how he interprets the Bible, as God's literal word. You'd just as soon get him to admit that Jesus never performed miracles as to abandon his bigotry.

Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 05:13 AM by lapfog_1
I won't have a problem seeing him on the podium doing the invocation for our President-Elect.

Until then, can't they around hang each other on a golf course or have lunch or something?

Hell, Obama can invite him for a sleepover at Camp David.

Until then if then ever arrives.
