Conservative Leader Paul Weyrich Dies; First to Lead Heritage

Paul M. Weyrich, chairman and CEO of the Free Congress Foundation and first president of The Heritage Foundation, died this morning around 1 a.m. He was 66 years old. Weyrich was a good friend to many of us at Heritage, a true leader and a man of unbending principle. He won Heritage’s prestigious Clare Boothe Luce Award in 2005.

5. for almost anyone who dies, I have a rule to not say anything if I can't say something good.
But in this case, I'll make an exception.

Please spend an eternity in HELL you piece of shit.

( and if hell doesn't exist, I hope some supreme being creates one just for you ).

13. In his own words...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8GBAsFwPglw

"Now many of our Christians have what I call the goo-goo syndrome — good government. They want everybody to vote. I don't want everybody to vote. Elections are not won by a majority of people, they never have been from the beginning of our country and they are not now. As a matter of fact, our leverage in the elections quite candidly goes up as the voting populace goes down."

And now, I dance on his grave. I'll do some pissing when I have the urge. Gladly. Happily.

23. ok, as a non-Christian with no problem speaking ill of the dead
I can honestly say I'm glad he's dead. Fuck him. He was the antithesis of what America stands for, and one of the early architects of many of our current problems, from religious involvement in government to his stated problems with democracy.

Fuck him.

For the concerned: the differences between us and freepertown are myriad. Just because I am saying I am glad he's dead does not mean I am an ass on the same level those people are.

27. This sort of thing comes up almost every time someone dies.
I don't feel the need to trash people when they die. Their problems, and our problems with them are over. That said, when Hannity goes.

30. I know what you're saying, but are the problems of the dead really over?
We're still seeing Reagan's legacy as the market crumbles and children beg Santa for food, yet he is now considered untouchable because he died?

Maybe it's because I am not a religious person, but I think someone who lived a bad life should be called on it, alive or dead. I'm not entirely pro-grave dancing, but I also do not consider the dead sacrosanct or above criticism.

32. I should revise what I said.
Reagan absolutely should be criticized. I mean that we should be a little more gentle when it first happens. Also, gravedancing is unbecoming and akes us look bad. Other than that, I have no issue.

36. Death isn't magical. It happens to everyone.
It's one thing to take joy in the suffering of another, but something different to take pleasure in someone's absence.

But still that's pretty young to go, all things considered. Certainly less offensive than many of his compatriots at Townhall, and he wrote in support of public transportation and light rail, which I agreed with him on.

26. I am sad and distraught.
I will almost assuredly need a Home Depot bucket for the waterfall of tears and several psychiatrists to counsel me during this sad . . . sad moment.

O God, ease our suffering in this, our moment of great dispair. Yea, admit this kind and decent man into thy arms of thine heavenly area, up there. And Moab, he lay us upon the band of the Canaanites, and yea, though the Hindus speak of karma, I implore you: give him a break.

29. OK, One good thing about Weyrich...
He didn't actively molest children and small furry animals, at least as far as I know, and I have no infomation one way or the other when it comes to scaley animals of various sizes.

Of course, his policies molested them and everyone else, but he didn't do the deed personally (again, as far as I know).

And that's the best I can say about him.

31. We have just disgusting threads like this, and then in the same breath decry
the nasty and divisive ways of Republicans.

It seems as though any time an opposition figure meets his maker, DUers can't wait to be the first to dance on their grave and tell everyone the death couldn't come soon enough.

And no one seems to appreciate the irony.

Mission Accomplished.

Of course, my deepest sympathies go out to his family. Sixty six is too young to die. Just as being a mean-spirited bastard is too wasteful of the compassion God put in our hearts.
