Time to start working on building the Democratic Coalition for 2010
I'll grant, I wanted to wait a year before we started talking about 2010, but some intense insensitivity from "Democrats" (in quotes) seems to mean we need to start this now because it won't be easy.

The American political system is different from the parliamentary systems. They do their coalition building after the election and try to cobble together a majority from the different parties. We do ours before the primary season even starts.

So what issues are going to be important enough to the Democratic Party that it will fight for them in 2010?

1. Stopping the war on the Middle East, promoting equal rights for all people, putting
rebuilding the nation's infrastructure before propping up corrupt financial markets, promoting fuller employment at wages sufficient to survive, providing health care for all, restoring the Constitution as an actual, working document rather than "a goddamned piece of paper," ..

Basically, everything that is a problem now and will not be addressed or corrected by the center-right coalition formed in DC by the GOP and DLC.

2. I can go with that
And add, stop the war on science, repeal (not reform) NCLB, reaffirm the right to join a union and a woman's right to control her own reproductive system.
