Obama: No More Of The "we only have one president at a time" B.S.
Edited on Thu Dec-18-08 06:37 PM by Better Believe It
If the domestic auto industry folds Obama will be a one term president and the Republicans will regain control of the White and Congress in four years. That's the bottom line. The recession will turn into a full blown depression from which this nation will not recover in four years.

Obama now needs to say that a bankruptcy of GM, Chrysler or Ford is totally unacceptable to him and his economic team and that you urge the Big 3 and the auto workers to reject any bankruptcy "deal" offered by the Bush administration and Secretary Paulson.

If that's the plan of Paulson and Bush call a fricken news conference tomorrow to block it! Have your entire economic team at the news conference to show solidarity in support of the auto industry and our auto workers.

And if some right-wing Republicans and Bush don't like that, well, tough shit!

A bankruptcy would destroy the auto industry .... does Obama have a plan to replace those 3 million jobs with a two trillion dollar stimulus package and a few hundred billion more for unemployement compensation and food stamps and a few hundred billion more for auto workers pensions that the government would have to pick up? No.

No more of "we only have one president" bull shit. That is no longer a valid excuse for Obama not speaking out loudly and clearly in defense of auto workers and the domestic car industry.

If Obama refuses to lean on Bush and the Treasury Secretary to do the right thing by going public if necessary, what good is he?

Silence and timidity won't help working people out.

Show leadership!

Defend the domestic auto industry and auto workers!

Help turn public opinion around in support of the industry and its workers.

And if he won't do that, fair or unfair, Obama will go down in history not as another FDR, but more like Herbert Hoover.

1. Baloney. He'd be pilloried if he told the current dim son to get lost.
What he might be doing behind the scenes we aren't privy to.

2. You may be right
It would not surprise me if the GOP sacrificed this country's next four years just to try to get back into power again.

5. You don't know unless he actually leans on them, now do you?
They sure as hell can't be counted on to do the right thing if there isn't any pressure from the Obama camp.

What don't you understand about that?

13. What filibuster? It didn't happen
Who filibustered and for how long did they hold the Senate floor?

Senator Reid just surrendered after the first vote was taken and ended the Senate session without a Republican filibuster!

8. If his position is significantly different on this issue than Bush, I do believe
he should let that be known, even if he must couch it in diplomatic language.

While there is only one President, Obama can speak as a Senator.

11. Hubris Heaver. Good anology.
Fiscally, economically, internationally BO is being Carterized or Hooverized if you prefer. The pup don't stand a chance against the wolves in the pasture. Doesn't understand the end game, don'cha know Joe. Unfortunately, those around him whose advice he bows to do understand the end game.
