Man offers daughter to shoe-hurler as bride

Head of large West Bank family says doing so 'would be our honor'

Associated Press
updated 5:32 a.m. MT, Fri., Dec. 19, 2008

NABLUS, West Bank - The head of a large West Bank family wants to reward the Iraqi journalist who lobbed his shoes at President George W. Bush by sending him a bride.

Ahmad Salim Judeh says if journalist Muntadhar al-Zeidi is interested the family is willing to send one of their daughters to Iraq along with her dowry.

The 75-year-old Judeh says doing so "would be our honor." He also said Friday that the 500-member clan had raised $30,000 for al-Zeidi's legal defense.

Al-Zeidi has become something of a folk hero in the Middle East since throwing his shoes at Bush at a Baghdad press conference Sunday. News stations across the Arab world have repeatedly shown footage of the incident.

3. 500 member clan?
that's a lot of wedding invitations to send out should Mr. Al-Zeidi accept...

wonder if the Yankess have invited him to spring training? a little wild and his mechanics need some work...but good pitching is at such a premium these days

6. He should hold out for the big cash!

His own line of Jimmy Choo shoes, al-Zeidi action figure, his own American Express commercial, maybe one of those Bachelor reality shows (he gets to marry all the women), a host spot on SNL, Vanity Fair cover/feature, his own uber-chic LA/NYC French restaurant, "La Cordonnerie" where the signature amuse bouche is served in a tan loafer, al-Zeidi fitness centers and resort, multi-million dollar book deal and speaking tour, the possibilities are endless. Might as well get something out of that beat down he took.
