8. The end of my driveway was above the main part of the shovel, where the handle actually meets the
Shovel. I took some photos and will post soon.

9. We're toastier than you this morning; it's 3 degrees out there.
We have about 8 inches of snow, and are under a severe storm watch through tomorrow, expecting a lot more.

My plumbing is frozen up. I'll be heading into town later, ice or no, to watch my grandson for a few hours. We can use the plumbing at his house. ;)

A great day to curl up with a book and movie and stay home, really.

Happy Solstice to all.

:hi:

18. Yes.
We're nowhere near Michigan, but we're on a severe winter storm watch through tomorrow, possibly Tuesday, with a bunch of snow, and a predicted ice storm, coming.

I talked to a friend in the town I lived in several years ago, 1000 miles south of me today; they got a rare snowstorm last week, too.

First we had an unusually warm fall; indian summer right up until the day we hit -2. BRRRRRR.

I just want my plumbing to unfreeze. Water is coming in, but it's not going out. Either something is frozen (likely,) or I've overloaded the septic system keeping faucets dripping (possible,) or both.

20. I was about to reply that it's about the same here, but ...
... then I noticed that you're in Chicago too. I think we just topped up the day with -1, but that wind is brutal.

14. This past Monday's ice storm was interesting.
The ice was so thick on my car, I had to take two huge pots of nearly boiling water and pour them over my car. It was the only way to get the ice off.

Right now it's -2 and the wind is howling here just south of Chicago. I actually like winter so it's kind of fun. Of course, I don't have to work outside, that would make winter less much pleasant.
