Michael Jackson seriously ill
Edited on Mon Dec-22-08 01:31 PM by malaise
http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/theampersand/archive/2008/12/22/michael-jackson-desperately-needs-lung-transplant-claims-biographer.aspx
<snip>
Michael Jackson needs a lung transplant, says the King of Pop's biographer.

Ian Halperin, an investigative journalist, claims that Jackson suffers from Alpha 1-antitrypsin deficiency, a genetic disorder, which has caused the singer to lose vision in his left eye and to develop emphysema and chronic gastrointestinal bleeding. Halperin has been quoted as saying that he doesn't believe that Jackson, 50, has much time left.

He needs a lung transplant, but may be too weak to go through with it. ... It's the bleeding that's the most problematic part. It could kill him.

How sad! An unbelievably talented freak. I wish you well for your beautiful music.

IIRC, he cut off all ties with their birth mother.

He always struck me as having led a very sad life.

27. Depends on the issue, but I'll by and large agree with your assessment.
Geniuses tend to be eccentric, but not all geniuses do what Michael Jackson has been claimed of doing -- even if it's true Jackson didn't molest them, to sleep in the same bed with them still seems bizarre. Little children (toddlers) might sleep with their parents if they feel terrified, but adults sleeping with children to feel serene? Cuckoo, I'm sorry. It's simply cuckoo.

How've you been? I see your posts from time to time. I don't post much at all anymore. In fact, I don't even come on unless I'm really bored . . .

I meant OF him - during his childhood. This was in response to the comment that it was "total excess" that lead to the "tragedy that was Michael Jackson".

I think any subsequent problems stemmed a great deal from his childhood trauma. He was never allowed to really BE a child, no wonder he reverted to being one as a quasi-adult.

54. that doesn't excuse the pedophilia
you don't have a choice in your upbringing. You have a choice in how you deal with it. Michael Jackson gave into his worst impulses, and that karma all belongs to him. I don't wish ill on anyone, but I have a real hard time generating much compassion in this situation.

33. Agreed. Even the mentally strong have scars; being abused as a child has life-long repercussions.
It doesn't excuse what Michael did if he did it, but it certainly was a cruelty for him to have endured as a child.

37. I'm with you Malaise
One of the TVs at work runs Faux Noise, and I saw the headline on the screen "Is Michael Jackson Dying?" So I came back to my desk to see what info I could find about it. I found nothing, except on Faux. And even the article of Faux says it is false. Apparently the rumor was put out there by Jackson' biographer.

Jackson isn't using it to help shoe-shine his ego.

Other sick celebs (Winehouse, Spears, et al) had used their status and sickness to overtly seek camera time at one point.

Who really can say how much of that metomorphosis was caused by money, the constant surrounding flock of sycophants who wouldn't/couldn't tell him "no", his childhood, genetics, or his own personal actions etc...

It would have been cool if he had turned out a little like Prince, Ozzy, or Madonna...still making hits and the occasional celeb semi-wacky headlines instead of becoming a punchline for this, the inevitable tragic end.

Life's not always cool like that.

Oh well, it worked out for Prince, Ozzy, or Madonna. Someone has to lose sometimes.
