5. We always watched it in my family in the late 60s and 70s as I recall.
I remember putting together toys for the kids and wrapping xmas presents while that yule log was burning in the fireplace on my TV. I always looked forward to it...

13. I remember having it on as background too
Funny thing: I remember visting a cousin's home, where they had a real fireplace, but they had the Yule Log on too, for the music if I recall correctly.

6. Yep, the WPIX Yule Log...
Weird that people have gotten nostalgic over a TV special that featured only a fireplace and piped Christmas music.;)

And one other thing - no commercials!

Do you remember the video game thing where you could call at a commercial break to yell "Pix!" and some guy in the control room would hit the button just a second too late?

20. The Yule Log is now in HD.
And it's a 4 hour show. 9-1. It gets great ratings, so they keep running it.
