In the spirit of the season, we are offering to adopt any of the thousands of unwanted
fruitcakes currently being schlepped around the country by the USPS.

This much maligned orphan of days gone by has borne the slings and arrows of outrageous tastelessness for decades, if not centuries. An excellent source of needed mid-winter nutrients and fond memories of fruit, giving us solace in the knowledge that spring is coming and times will be easier soon.

Besides, even the worst of them are fine if married to enough bourbon/rum sauce.

3. This is one fruitcake that greatfully accepts your offer
It's been another lonley holiday with no family
and no friends except DU.

Are you coming for me and my stuff
or will you just send a ticket?

Do I get my own room?

How much do I get for an allowance?

4. Just get them spayed or neutered
so their offspring don't wind up in fruitcake shelters.

6. So there is at least one other person in the world
who likes fruitcake. It seems to have become so dispised that it is barely available around town. Picked up one at Whole foods; just too wholesome. I like "classic" fruitcake with the nasty candied fruit.

It was made in 1911 and still survives.

10. That looks like a land mine dug up from the Battle of The Somme.
Probably tastes better than any fruitcake, though.
