“Mama, I don’t even feeling like going,” McFarland told his mother. “I don’t want to do it.”

Before the visit, Adams called Texas and asked to speak with Brown. The associate head coach, Mac McWhorter, told her that she could talk only to him.

That bothered her because she had wanted to talk to Brown and commend him for the Longhorns’ dismissal of a player who had posted a racial slur on his Facebook page about President-elect Barack Obama.

During the trip, Adams said, she asked Brown about the Obama slur, and was told that the player had to be dismissed because the F.B.I. had become involvolved

This article doesn't paint Texas in that great of a light, regardless of how Brown dealt with the Obama slur. USC and LSU come off much worse of course.

7. LSU is the best at covering things up. A player about to get busted for counterfeiting walks out of...
the state untouched another couple of players involved in the murders where the bodies were put in dumpsters on campus and it just goes away. On that one I don't even thing they found all the bodies.

6. reading about the wild parties, the alcohol and drugs
I think it is time to stop football programs (and basketball, etc) at colleges. Let the football pro teams start their own farm system like baseball has.
