Lest we forget... War.
So many DUers found this place when shock and awe were the buzzwords.

We still are unwelcome occupiers in Iraq and Afghanistan and the death toll of these occupations increase daily. Obama wants to increase our troop strength in Afghanistan and pull back strength in Iraq. Our Country is on the brink of an economic meltdown and our infrastructure is in disarray. We have completely destabilized the fragile balance in the Middle East and have increased terrorist activity across the world. The only correct scenario that I see is to cut "our losses" and pull our troops back with apologies for the last administration and rebuild our economy via public works projects and rebuild our standing in the world by making our influences known by humanitarian rather than warlike means.

The wars are still ongoing, but you seldom hear of it here. There are too many trivial in comparison items that we love to rant on while we have become inured to the fact that we didn't win the war question.

The war is still there and people are still needlessly dying.

Please don't forget.

Please continue protesting this terrible thing.

/Rant off.

1. I was watching an episode of "ghost whisperer" last night (the second I have seen) --
all about soldiers dying in iraq, and the ptsd that so many come home with--and I found myself crying, and praying that those responsible for all the death and destruction, all the lies, all the evil, all the devastation of lives, be made to pay.

I will never shut up until all our people are home, and not even then--will things EVER be normal in iraq or afghanistan again?

4. The unjust and immoral wars are issue number one to me still.
Sure, the economy is in the trash can, and GLBT rights are great need of repair, and there are many other important issues. But the war is number one. As the physicians code says, first, do no harm. Until we end the wars, our moral standing is non-existant.

6. I'm sure the Iraqis and Afghans will be flinging flowers now that "our guys" are running the wars.

10. The Afghanistani adventure is a sign of foolish posturing
There is no logistic or strategic justification for this folly. The only quasi-excuse is as some kind of blustering display to show the world what tough guys we are and how anti-Islamist we are.

This shows deep, deep immaturity and lack of understanding of how the world works. The blinkered, lockstep agreement of the seemingly wide swath of Obama supporters to this sheer stupidity underlines the most dangerous and steadfast trend of the movement: joyous, irrational "faith". The willingness to believe claims based on no evidence at all and to abdicate all personal objectivity and sense may bode well for creating a roiling crowd mentality to sweep a candidacy to success, but it doesn't promote much rationality along the way. It's a new game now; getting elected is an radically different set of problems from those of leading.

16. Yeah, but what about Warren?!?!?
Sure, we've killed hundreds of thousands of men, women, children, and infants in Iraq and Afghanistan, and will continue to do so under Mr. Hope's regime, but I gotta tell ya...I can't sleep at night, knowing that bigot's gonna be at the Inaugural.

What kind of a liberal are you? Don't you have your priorities straight?

21. Warren is garbage--but that's beside the point
What does it say about the American "left" when we're haunted more by some bigot preacher than imperialism in the Middle East.

We are absolute fucking jokes, and are utterly incapable of saving this wretched country.
