Baby Presents Piling Up for Palin
By Brandon Barker
Dec 29th 2008 9:45AM

Filed Under:eFeatured Stories, 2008 President, Gaffes, LOLection, Sarah Palin

The life of Sarah Palin, the former beauty queen who found a niche in the wild and woolly world of Alaska politics, has undoubtedly been transformed by her brief stint as a Vice Presidential candidate, fielding such good fortune as 20-percent raises and shining-star accolades from the GOP. And now, this streak of good fortune is extending to her grandchildren.

According to Australia's Strollerbaby, the offspring of Bristol Palin (pictured) and hockey stud Levi Johnston has already received a number gifts from well-wishers around the world. In fact, Sarah Palin's father, Chuck Heath, says that the presents have literally been piling up.

To the tune of one hundred thousand. You read that right.

The question is, how will this little soon-to-be scrapper, who also shares a family tree with accused drug dealer Sherry Johnston (Levi's mom), possibly play with, wear, or nibble on all the treats that have arrived to welcome his birth? In an interview with Grandparents.com, Mr. Heath remarked,

"There's all kinds of gifts laying around the place - all kinds of baby stuff. I'm in a room right now just full of baby stuff - more than she'll ever use."

As much as I can appreciate the thrill of standing in a room filled with "baby stuff," I think Toys for Tots would be the decent, real American route at this juncture.

In the meantime...

Arrest details on mom of Bristol Palin's boyfriend

WASILLA, Alaska (AP) — The mother of Bristol Palin's boyfriend sent text messages to two police informants discussing drug transactions before her arrest on felony drug charges, authorities say.

An affidavit filed Monday says Sherry L. Johnston sent text messages referring to "coffee" as a code for the drug OxyContin.

The 42-year-old Johnston was arrested last week after state troopers served a search warrant at her Wasilla home. She is out on bail.

Johnston is the mother of 18-year-old Levi Johnston. Gov. Sarah Palin announced in September that her 18-year-old daughter Bristol was pregnant and Johnston was the father.

1. That's all very nice
And I do wonder how many of these well wishers extended the same generosity for unwed teenage mothers who do not happen to be the daughter of a state governor.

5. Allow me a tiny correction to your remark;
And I do wonder how many of these well wishers extended the same generosity for unwed teenage mothers who do not happen to be the daughter of a non-republican state governor.

If this were any state gov with a (D) or (I) after their name, it would be nothing but 24-7 decades-long abuse from the rightwingnuttery.

2. I don't get people sometimes
the same ones sending thousands of gifts (and probably the same who also bailed out Joe "The Plumber") complain to no end if a dime of their taxes goes toward actual poor people, art, or education.

Why not send a gift to a charity, children's hospital, adoption agency or orphanage instead of to a family who is already exceedingly wealthy?

14. because people of little lives need to feel important by those whom
they hold in high esteem. even if those people are the palins.

"I's knitted some baby shoes for the little critter!"

sigh.

sad state of affairs when proving ones worth to stupid people becomes a celebrate sport.

29. Yeah, they'll go all out for a stranger just because her Mom's a governor
(and even though she's AN UNWED MOTHER, FOR SHAME FOR SHAME!) But some poor kid in a slum somewhere? Why they'd tell them that they need to get off their lazy welfare sucking ass and get a job!

Someone should mention to these good samaritans that these weasels like Nieman-Marcus and Saks.

13. Someone on Alaskan's "themudflats" blog
calling herself "Wasilla Maternity Nurse" says Bristol's baby was born at 12:27 a.m. this morning, but I have not seen the story anywhere else - I do not know if it is true.

19. See this follow-up from AK Muckraker (Mudflats)
http://www.themudflats.net/2008/12/28/palin-second-most-admired-woman-of-2008/#comments

Bristol has not had her baby from what I can tell. “Wasilla Maternity Nurse” had an ip address located in NYC, so could not have been present, nor seen the child.

So, I have gone through the thread and cleaned up the baby droppings (ew). There is a “Baby Talk” discussion board on the Forum. Please feel free to drop by and leave comments on that topic.

8. Ah, a new career for Sarah dear...
She can sell the unneeded gifts on ebay. Let's see if there's a good ebay name for Sarah, shall we?

I'll start with "Moosebreath".

10. My prediction: she has a "miscarriage" of the imaginary baby.
but hell, like in good white trash tradition, she'll keep all the gifts. Maybe she could then use them for her, ah hem, "little brother".

11. The comments in the article are so freepishly cute
Quotes:

Wow, the "reporters" at AOL NEWS are most defintely Democrats, they can't even write this story without an obvious bias. Why does everything they write about anyone Republican (especially Palin) have to be dripping with distain?

I will remember the name, Mr.Barker, and make sure I
do not open any more of his stories.Stud, only a
whipper-snapper would use a word.

17. The Rethugs thought Jessie Jackson's son was a drug dealer
They got a warrant to tape his phone conversations about oil deliveries thinking he was actually talking about drugs. But they didn't didn't take into account that he was working for an oil company at the time. But wait, there's more: the "Killer Joe" Jackson referred to on the tapes turned out to be his barber!

21. Why do I already know these items will not be donated to people who really need them?
If the Palin's had an self respect, they would donate those items to people who cannot afford to buy them.
