Kucinich criticizes Israel; wants U.N. probe
Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) is calling for a United Nations investigation into Israel’s attacks on Gaza, criticizing Israel for a disproportionate response to Hamas rocket attacks.

The criticism stands in stark contrast to the statements of other Democrats, who have offered near-unanimous support for Israel amid the latest violence in the Middle East.

Kucinich likened the Israeli attacks on Gaza to its war with Hezbollah in southern Lebanon in 2006. In both cases, he said, civilian populations were attacked and “countless innocents” were killed or injured.

“All this was, and is, disproportionate, indiscriminate mass violence in violation of international law,” Kucinich said in a statement. “Israel is not exempt from international law and must be held accountable.”

3. I'm now GLAD that Kucinich isn't part of the Obama administration ...
He can continue to speak his mind on this and all
issues. I was hoping he might be brought in, but
he's serving the country better as the "voice in
the wilderness."

Hopefully he and the Progressive Caucus will do
for Obama what others of similar mind did to FDR
in the '30s -- PUSH HIM TO THE LEFT!

7. That's what keeps him out of the picture
Apparently being a critical-thinking independent intellectual who believes in humans over profits is unpopular, no matter what political party.

I love DU, but I'm not a Democrat or any other party member. I don't see any party lines and actual intellectual objectivity being close to parallel.

8. Dennis is like my conscience ... I can get sucked into believing in ...
stuff that doesn't end up panning out (that may be
Obama), but he doesn't waver from the positions that
I really espouse. He shames me when he ends up
being right, again and again. I really hope Obama
is the real thing, but if he's not, I'm glad there's
someone like Dennis who will be calling him out on
it ...

18. You're so right.
"Apparently being a critical-thinking independent intellectual who believes in humans over profits is unpopular, no matter what political party."

It's about as popular as a Mounds bar in a swimming pool, and people run away just as fast.

who are just another version of the IMF/World Bank and Global Interests who always work against the principles that UN was supposed to be about. :-(

Thank you, Dennis for always being a voice for Truth and exposing Hypocrisy!

16. that sounds just like the neo-con's opinion - i have a great deal of respect for the U.N.
they have a difficult job and they are constantly undermined by the great powers, especially the U.S.

i sure don't agree with everything they do but do respect their efforts.

15. Whoever called him the "voice in the wilderness" is right. But he will never give up or
allow his voice to be stifled. The man is a patriot of a stature that few attain. I hope that one day he will be recognized as such.
