We keep getting American Express card offers, but instead of our name, it says"
FEMA1549.
then our address.

Anyone know what is up with this?

naturally I keep sending crap back in the pre-stamped envelope.
Keeps coming, 2x month.

crud.

1. Don't open the envelope
Just write 'wrong address' on it and put it back in the mailbox, unopened.

2. FEMA1549 - is your state designation. I guess it means mailing went
to all addresses in your state. Same as sending a mass mailing to "Current Resident".

5. My friend has too much time on his hands......
He tapes those "return postage guaranteed' envelopes to bricks and drops them in mailboxes. He's been doing this since 1967.

6. I love your friend
I was a postal clerk for a while in the service and best I remember if it has postage and it fits the size requirements the post office has to send it. When our junk mail gets to be too much I spend a few days writing refused on the envelopes or what ever and stick them back in the out going box. After a few of them are returned and they have to pay postage back to themselves they take your name off their mailing list. been doing it for years with good results. Our postmaster told me that when you do what I do that the mailer has to pay the same postage as you or I have to pay and not the pre arranged price they pay getting their trash mailings out to us.

9. I had no clue about that. Thank you so much for the info.
Now I will write refused instead of just stuffing the crap back in the envelope and returning it.
American Express is the only cc card junk mail we get, but they are persistant!

8. Wouldn't rocks be cheaper?
Bricks cost money. Though admittedly its easier to tape an envelope to a brick than a rock.

11. I do it!
well I don't send them any bricks, just some junk from our paper recycling box.

I've signed up for the things that stop the junk mail so I don't get many offers. But WHENEVER I get ANYTHING annoying with a return envelope, I have to send it back, postage paid :headbang:

10. Yes. Apparently we've all been designated FEMA categories now.
It's the new zip code or something, I dunno.
