Bolton: Gaza Crisis Means We Should Attack Iran Now»

Yesterday, on Fox’s Hannity and Colmes, Iran war hawk John Bolton said that Israel’s recent bombing campaign in Gaza is all the more reason for the United States to bomb Iran now. “So while our focus obviously is on Gaza right now, this could turn out to be a much larger conflict,” he said, adding that “we’re looking at potentially a multi-front war here.”

“You would strike Iran right now?” asked host Alan Colmes. “I would have done it before this,” Bolton responded. Colmes asked whether tensions and war across Middle East would escalate if the U.S. or Israel were to bomb Iran. Bolton said that the many Arab countries would secretly be cheering if Iran were attacked:

COLMES: So if we do that, they strike back, are we then in danger of creating a broader war?

BOLTON: I think in many Arab states in the region, although they wouldn’t say it publicly, they’d be doing the equivalent of popping champagne corks because the Arab states don’t want Iran with nuclear weapons any more than Israel does. What Iran could do is what’s already happening in the Gaza Strip or what might happen if they unleashed Hezbollah, terrorist attacks on Israel.

Watch it at link~

It’s hard to believe that the Arab world would be pulling out the party hats if Iran were attacked. Thanks to the policies of President Bush, the U.S is immensely unpopular across the Middle East. Iran, on the other hand, enjoys unprecedented support in Iraq, which is supposed to be America’s greatest ally in the region.

The LA Times reported last year that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad “has transcended national and religious divides to become a folk hero across the Middle East.” Ahmadinejaded, “the leader of a non-Arab Shiite nation, has ingratiated himself with the Middle East’s predominantly Sunni Arab population.”

Without regard for the wider war that an attack on Iran would likely cause, Bolton believes the solution to a Middle East already in flames is to throw more wood on the fire.

22. I think this is why Obama keep Gates on
so he could be informed and manage a little control over these nuts
to prevent something stupid happening.

There are still a lot of neo-cons in the defense department. Bolton is not
talking out of his hat unless he's getting feedback.

Remember the Candy and Rose Petals? So wrong for so long!

The only people "popping champagne corks" would be the PNAC, the OSP goons squad and the other assorted neoCon war mongers.

21. And half a tank of gas
Some people are awfully fond of war when it's not their nuts on the line. Easy to be bellicose when someone else is going to do the actual killing and dying.

Of course, when Bolton got out of college back in 1970, he somehow failed to find his way to the local recruiting center. Read his pathetic excuse here:

23. Thanks for the link...
"I confess I had no desire to die in a Southeast Asian rice paddy," Bolton wrote of his decision in the 25th reunion book. "I considered the war in Vietnam already lost."

John Bolton was saying that shit the same year his old pal Nixon drafted my ass...The US Army seemed serious as hell about their war in 1970 John. John was a coward then and I'll bet he still is today.

25. In fairness to Mr. Bolton
I'm sure his 22-year-old brain had a much firmer and clearer handle on how things were going in Vietnam than anyone and everyone in the Nixon administration. As I said, it's so much easier to be bellicose when someone else is going to do the killing and dying. When Bolton had to contemplate the possibility for himself, suddenly he was quite sophisticated in his analysis of the war situation, and concluded that a very likely outcome was dying in a rice paddy.

He seems to think that an unprovoked attack in Iran is just the thing for today's world, and that a lot of folks in the Arab world would applaud such an attack. I wonder why he's so willing for us to do other countries' dirty work? Will these countries support us militarily? Financially? Or in their own quiet way?

I am soooo looking forward to the day Rupert Murdoch runs through his money and the Fox network goes the way of the Dumont network.

30. John Bolton: It's a cloudy day out, attack Iran.
I had some oatmeal and wheat toast for breakfast, so we need to attack Iran.

This is a great opportunity to attack Iran. It's a Monday. Tuesday works for me as well. In fact, they're all good.

I asked a third-grader what was the greatest threat to the national security of the United States, and she answered, "Letting Iran thumb their nose at us on the world stage, and not responding with overwhelming military force."

Daddy didn't love me enough, so we need to attack Iran immediately.

My fortune from the fortune cookie I had the other day read "Your lucky numbers are 3,34,5,18,27, and attack Iran now."

There are hedge funds losing billions because of stupid investment strategies in worthless mortgage derivatives, so my wealthy masters want to recoup those losses by investing in oil futures, so we need to attack Iran now.

I just like the idea of death and destruction as long as it doesn't affect me personally, so attack Iran now.

Iran is just begging to be hurt, just like my ex-wife. They needed to be taught who was in charge, so we should slap them around militarily until they 'get the message'.

We should not let any nation in the Middle East have nuclear weapons, except the ones we sold the technology to, so attack Iran now.
