Was George Hamilton the favorite house guest of right wing despots?

I heard an interview with him yesterday, and he talked about his friendships with Marcos, Duvalier, and the freaking Shah of Iran.

I have always sort of appreciated Hamilton in a kind of dumb, campy way, but I had no idea that he had spent so much time socializing with monsters.

1. seems to me that when you run in those "social circles" you're going to rub shoulders with despots.
