Commit a lifesaving act in honor of Elizabeth Edwards
Folks,
I think that a positive life-affirming act in honor of Elizabeth Edwards would be a great way for DU to honor a great woman. May I suggest giving blood at your local blood donor center?
I have been a blood donor, platelet donor and in recent years a white cell donor. Giving a potentially life saving pint of blood or signing up for the platelet donation program and/or white cell donation program at your local hospital would be a great way to honor Mrs. Edwards.
Blood banks usually run very near the edge on donations. Their best scenario is that they have an abundance of regular donors along with regular platelet donors plus enough white cell donors on call to meet their needs.
Donations take from an hour six times a year for blood up to three hours a month for platelets. And there is very little pain.
I have had doctors literally pacing at my donor chair waiting for my white cells to keep a patient from dying.
It would sure be nice if someone could post an "I'll donate for Elizabeth" chart that we could send on to her in a couple weeks.

If that is not your cup of tea, find a local poverty program and sign up to help them.
