Oh where was the outrage?
Where were the many posts denouncing this massacre? Where were the calls for Obama to make a statement? Where were the gory pictures of militants and children who had been killed. Why do we have such selective outrage here? Why do we as Americans pay more attention to Palestinian dead than we do African dead?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/dec/01/nigeria-christianity-islam-jos-riots

"Officials were counting the dead in a central Nigerian city yesterday after two days of violent clashes between Christian and Muslim gangs.

Nearly 400 bodies are reported to have been received at the main mosque in Jos, while there are also expected to be a significant number of Christian casualties. Thousands of people fled their homes in the city after rival mobs burned houses, shops, and several churches and mosques in the worst sectarian violence in the country since 2004.

Witnesses said sporadic gunfire could still be heard yesterday morning, as the army patrolled the city following a 24-hour curfew, during which soldiers had orders to shoot on sight."

Note that there was a higher death toll of this kind of Muslim vs Christin violence in 2004, 2001, 1997 and 1993.

1. Since when were we pouring $12 Billion a year into the Nigerian Christian gangs?
I must have missed that.

7. I guess you mean "where is the news media".
Its hard to be outraged when you know next to nothing about the situation.

Christian and Muslim gangs...is that like the bloods and the crips? I have no idea how many people are dying in that either. Hows about Chicago shootings?

6. So its all about the money?
No wonder the US is looked at as a giant hypocritical nation. Even so called liberals admit that the driving force behind their outrage is money.

FYI, we have probably sucked out as much money from Nigeria as we have given to Israel.

10. Not exactly. Not the simplistic way you frame it.
For many of us, knowing that our tax dollars are being spent on war atrocities only makes it seem worse.

"We're paying for this!" has a meaning beyond just the money. It means that we as taxpayers are unwillingly complicit in the bloodshed, which alone is enough to make many of us angry.

5. Which side is the West financing?
Details please. And why are you posting Muslim v Christian violence when there is also Christian v Muslim violence in Nigeria.

Give me global power for one day and I'll ban every religion on the planet. People can keep their faith for whatever its worth but every organized religion would be banned by me.

8. the West and East is financing both sides
Just like the West and the "East" (Iran, Syria, Saudi) is financing both sides of the Israel-Palestine issue. The end result is that innocent civilians are getting killed.

I posted Muslin vs Christian because anyone who is honest will tell you what side alway instigates the pogroms there.
