Levi Johnston quits oil field job

Levi Johnston, the Wasilla teenager planning to marry Gov. Sarah Palin's daughter, Bristol, has quit his North Slope oil field job over questions about his eligibility to participate in an electrical apprenticeship program, Johnston's father said today.

Johnston this fall began working at the Milne Point oil field through the ASRC Energy Services apprenticeship program.

However, radio talk show commentator Dan Fagan, in a newspaper column published Sunday, questioned how Johnston could take part in the apprenticeship program without the required high school education.

Johnston's father, Keith Johnston, said in a telephone interview that his son decided to resign today and return home to work on his education.

Keith Johnston also said the governor had nothing to do with getting Levi Johnston the oil field job. Keith Johnston said his own position as an ASRC construction engineer accounts for any help his son received in landing work.

Let's pose a question...has anyone here EVER gotten a job due to knowing someone at the company; got into a club because they 'know' someone or any preferential treatment due to connections or good references?

Listen...I was not trying to start a war or even defend this kid...it just amuses me that so much attention is being paid to a nobody. Sarah will be gone soon enough...she will not be a player in future games. This stuff is a distraction, but considering all the painful shit that is going on around the world - I should not begrudge anyone for finding a way to focus on something less painful.

This "nobody" was paraded in front of the nation as if he had performed some heroic deed by sticking his dick in the Palin's daughter. Rather than quietly dealing with their problem they stuck it right in our face. I believe that most Americans would have treated them with respect for their situation if they had not tried to misrepresent a difficult situation as an example of their moral superiority.

It appears to me that the Palin family should be nominated for the Dysfunctional Family of the Year Award. If you think that the Palins are going to disappear, you are delusional. They represent the best that the Republican Party has to offer. Your sympathy for these poor unfortunate kids is misguided. You should reserve it for some young people whose situation is truly tragic and don't have the resources to cope with their hopelessness.
