Who needs Republicans to knock us around
when we can just fight amongst ourselves?

Is anyone around here still happy Obama won and we are in control?

4. I don't know. I'm just checking in after being offline for awhile.
I have seen the enemy, and it's apparently us.

7. You expect all people to be happy with everything any Democrat does?
With 20K posters, we'll always get someone who disagrees with something. That's what Democracy and the Internet are about.

6. I was wondering the same thing.
I came here to be with winners instead of whiners, avoiding the gloom and doom and general insanity being displayed by the wingnuts.

What do I get here? Gloom and doom and general insanity.

11. There is no test you have to pass to post on the internet.
If they required posters to answer twenty current events questions before they were allowed to post, we might get a higher level of discourse.

Pay no attention to the gloom and doomers. Or the batshit crazy stupid people. They're just "energy vampires" anyway.

Obama wasn't my choice, but he's the President Elect and has my support and good wishes. I have a problem with Rick Warren, but I'm not going to throw the baby out with the bathwater. I am going to continue to gripe (LOUDLY) about Warren when the subject arises, but I am not one of those people who "refuses to deal" because everything isn't going my way. Instead, I'll gripe when I'm ticked, and praise when I'm pleased.

I don't particularly like listening to nothing but the Winner-Winner-Chicken-Dinner Happy-Glad Club, the Tiger Beat set, either...."Oooooh, isn't he dreamy, and isn't his wife just like Jackie Kennedy!!!" The "We'll just have to TRUST that HE knows BEST" bunch. That stuff is pretty sickening, IMO.

I like a nice mix of ideas, debate, discussion, and civil disagreement. Sometimes ya get it, sometimes ya get crap. It's a coin toss.

14. It's bad enough that we have to wait to do the things that need to be done.
We don't have to be unpleasant to each other about it. :)

16. True, that.
Some people, I suspect, come here after they have a fight with the wife/husband, feel underappreciated, have to do some crappy chore they don't want to do, or have an otherwise lousy day, and take out their anger on people with a different view from theirs on the very broad centrist to progressive spectrum!

8. Republicans march in lockstep, even if they dont like
....the direction their leadership takes them because they believe they share a common goal of seeking ever increasing power for their corporate sponsors (really, thats what their whole party has de-evolved to).

Democrats are a party driven by ideologies, and much of the current friction stems from a belief many of us have that we need to oust, or at least minimize, the influence our own versions of Republicans (DLC) have on making decisions.

12. I certainly realize that
Personally, I'm basically a democratic socialist in how I envision a society in which I would like to live.

However, pragmatically, I realize that we must end our gridlock to get something done. I'm sitting here with no job and higher healthcare costs than my mortgage, so ideological purity just simply isn't as important to me than actually getting something accomplished.

10. The biggest problem Demorats have is that our party is a coalition
The GOP takes the same marching orders, and don't reason things out, so they believe exactly what they're told to. The Democratic party is made up of several groups in society that see things differently based on various factors (Religion- Hispanics/African-Americans for example)
