I came home on a litter (although I'm grateful it wasn't a box) in 1971, because a bunch of Republicans continued to chant their "support the troops" mantra, long after it was clear that our alleged mission was a mistake.
Blind allegiance to a partisan ideology is not "supporting the troops". It's nothing more than supporting the leader of your party - in this case, demonstrably the most inept Commander-in-Chief in the history of our Republic. Supporting the troops does not entail sending them to war under-equipped. Nor does it consist of cutting their benefits when they return, or providing sub-standard care to grievously wounded warriors.
When I listen to asshats like Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly and others who have never heard a shot fired in anger, call men like John Kerry and Jack Murtha unpatriotic, I swear, I want to hurt someone.
Murtha and Kerry have seen the elephant. Limbaugh can't even see his own dick.

6. I'm surprised tags aren't standard issue
May as well dress those poor souls in body bags from the git go. They sure as hell aren't issuing anything to keep them safe!

As a mother of three draft aged kids, I cry for every child, spouse, lover, sibling lost in this evil occupation, and for those they left behind.

Karma! Come catch your slow ass up to these WAR PIGS!!!

Many more of us are going to have to take to the streets, like during the late 60s and early 70s in order to convince our GUTLESS WONDER Democratic Representatives to find their damn spines.

5. In my view, if you support the troops, you want to bring them home.
If you support the war, you support the slaughter of our troops.

TROOPS. HOME. NOW.!!!

7. I tell everyone I know that if you never wore a military uniform
you are not in a position to judge. I was in the military and I can guarantee you that if given a choice most of the men and women in Iraq would want to come home. They are not cowards, they have common sense.

20. I respectfully disagree.
Military service conveys neither wisdom nor knowledge. But it sure as shit should inoculate those who served from scurrilous charges of cowardice and treason from those who have no fucking idea what they are talking about.

They are just meat for the grinder to them.
Just bodies. Corpses.

10. Troops? He really means "Support Our Human Shields"
Our so-called troops are performing fewer military duties than they are performing police checkpoint work, sitting duck work, traffic cop work, and acting as human shields to protect several sides from each other in an ongoing civil war. We've absused and misused our military and asked them to do things they were not intended to do.

Talking about the "troops" sounds macho and patriotic, but if he actually said it correctly ("support our Human Shields") it would be more realistic, although less politically expedient a term for scoring points with his inbred base.

16. Techically, if GOP votes against the spending bill, they're voting agaisnt funding the troops
This is an argument the Dems never make. That DEMS are the majority in Congress and elected BY THE PEOPLE. There is plenty of funding in their bill FOR the troops and their protection.

The issue for the DEMS is NOT about funding the troops. There is plenty of money FOR the troops. The issue is the continuance of the war which is about policy. By a LARGE majority in this country they are against the policy of the Prez of BEING in Iraq.

Ergo, the GOP are not only NOT supporting the troops by voting agaisnt a funding bill which goes to the troops, THEY are in fact NOT supporting the people by voting against a bill which would end a polciy the vast Americans just voted upon.

This is an important distinction the DEMS are not making clear. There is plenty of moeny for "supporting the troops". The question is about the continuance of a failed policy that the american peopel rejected last election in droves.

17. The troops have no say
From the moment they sign up they are property of the US government. It is our duty as citizens of this country to make sure that those who choose to call upon them are held to the highest standard. Before one troop ever steps foot on the battlefield it is imperative that the mission be one that is proven honorable and just. Once we allow them to become engaged it is equally imperative that we listen to those in military command on how to implement the strategy to win said mission. Those on the right want to claim that we are defeatists because we don't get behind this policy. Well I call bullshit. We are not defeatists we are realists. When the policy is bullshit, victory will never be had. Our troops were set up for failure and that really pisses me off. How many more have to die before these fucking idiots get it?
