Obama Pressured Reid to accept Burris
Yikees, say it ain't so.....

Senate's Democratic majority clears path for Roland Burris
Pressure by President-elect Barack Obama leads to about-face

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Senate's Democratic majority opened the way Wednesday for Roland Burris to become Illinois' next senator, pressured by President-elect Barack Obama to remove a politically consuming distraction less than two weeks before he assumes the White House during an economic crisis.

A top Senate Democratic source said Obama's concerns about the Burris situation were among several factors that resulted in an about-face by Senate leaders, who had vowed to reject Burris or anyone else named by disgraced Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

1. Good lets move on. But, I gotta say as someone from IL after this circus,
our next elected governor and senator will be republican. We aren't as blue as the media says we are. The republicans are gonna have some amazing campaign commercials.

2. When Reid said yesterday that he "doesn't work for Obama", I should have known the
opposite was true.

4. Cause Reid Made An Asshat Out Of Himself
Harry just likes to be liked. He'll hop on any bandwagon, no matter whose riding on it or where it's going...and usually gets pushed off. Looks like it happened again.

Reid spoke first before he realized he didn't have a pot to piss in. His need to cheerlead the outrage about Blago got in the way of realizing the legal and political implications of what was going on. Reid bought into the trial by corporate media and "conventional wisdom" (which he always does) rather than gauging the situation and now he looks like a complete asshat.

President Obama wants to get off and running on or before January 20th and this circus takes away time and resources from what is sure to be quite an agenda. Obama not only needs as many loyal votes and possible, but few sideshows as well. Reid just got a reminder that his power and importance are secondary to what President Obama wants. Sure musta hurt, let's see if it leaves a mark.
