And were a couple of liberal Dems nodding in agreement with him on that thought? I am not sure I heard that right or not? Did anyone see that?

1. It wouldn't be the stoopidest thing he's ever said
We're going to have a lot of desperate people without jobs.

2. Crime rates have been pretty high in the Whitehouse the past 8 years
Maybe he meant Bush and Cheney would be afraid to leave their homes?

3. Yes, this is correct. States and local areas are bleeding funds right now.
In my county they are closing schools to save money.. piling the kids up in schools and supplying those detestable portables in order to squeeze more kids on the campus. It makes lunch times insane, teachers and staff overburdened, and parents livid.. because their taxes only increase and services decrease. Police staff, fire staff, govt offices continue to downsize. This means less police to protect. With the increase of people losing their jobs and homes, crime increases. People who will become reclusive. Only travelling in a 5mi radius to shop, work, and eat. Security units and guard dogs will be in high demand, along with fencing.. to keep people from accessing home gardens. Its going to get ugly if people don't start working or have some source of money access.

Do you mean living in there communities? It is bad if they don't talk to people. It is good if they talk to their neighbors and start LIVING in their neighborhoods.

10. Our crime rate has gone up dramatically in the last year.
Not big crimes, but theft, shoplifting and a lot of gas driveaways. This is very abnormal for our community, so I'm sure it is related to the economy.

4. Tweety isn't gonna be "scared" he has burgler alarm and spends much time in his Nantucket Estate!
HE doesn't need to be worried. It's the rest of us who do. Times are tough and folks are going to find food and stuff to sell wherever they can find it. Given that America is now a "test tube" for Criminal Activity and that our Cable Channels promote it ...we can expect the most modest homes to be invaded by those who need to "LIVE" after being cut out for 8 years of Bush/Cheney.

7. When unemployment goes up, so does crime.
Always has. It doesn't help that cities and towns are broke and will probably have to cut back on policing, either.

Obama needs to be ready for this, because the Hannities will try to hang it around his neck when it gets bad, and the MSM loves nothing more than screaming about crime waves.

8. Like him or not he is correct that increasing crime is a concern.
and it does tend to push people into a state of fear.

In general a bad economy means more crime.

11. I think the point he was trying to make was more crime will make a bad economy worse?
I am not positive on this but that was my take. Like if people aren't leaving their homes because they are scared they won't be out spending.

I may have misunderstood his jest?

16. I don't know.
But a high crime rate could reduce spending further. Not sure though.

13. With all those Republics getting permanently sent home from Washington
I'm sure their home districts will see an increase in thievery, bunco, prostitution, confidence schemes, and buggery of children.

15. When you run government into the ground or Grover's bathtub
and steal all the money, there go the cops and up goes the crime.
