I have proof that PE Obama is already different than Bush
Okay. Western Washington is a flooded mess tonight. There are hundreds of thousands of people currently inconvenienced and/or significantly suffering as a result. The last time we had a weather-related emergency, guess who sat on his ass and did nothing?

The Snoqualmie Valley, taken yesterday afternoon by a journalist from the Seattle Times:

The little blue bridge in the foreground is on the way to our house. Luckily, we live on a hillside; nothing flooded, and so far (knock on wood,) no mudslides. There are lots and lots of other people who weren't quite so lucky.

I was pleasantly surprised to watch the local news broadcast this evening and learn that PE Obama has ALREADY CALLED our governor, Christine Gregoire, and offered the help of his administration to help those who've been flooded out of their homes and businesses get back on their feet. God, it's good to have someone in charge again.

Snaps to PE Obama, and I am hoping this is a very good sign. Let me tell you, I'm impressed.

Julie

2. I was really glad Christine Gregoire made that point
on the news earlier tonight.

Take that, Bush.
Eleven more days till peace and sanity are BACK!

4. Wow. That picture says it all, doesn't it?
So glad you escaped immediate damage -- but so many didn't.

5. Excellent and good luck there.
You are in Duvall? Had a sib in Carnation for a while. I hope it drops down soon and people can start drying out down there in the valleys. Good for Obama, very good.

8. Cat_girl, yeah, ze 100-year flooding
has been every winter now for the last three years.

We are at a higher elevation than Seattle, so we get snow when everyone else doesn't, and now we get flooding, too. We're fine. Everything is dry. There's one way in and out of town right now, but at least there is ONE.

There are so many who've lost everything, as little as ten miles away from us. It's going to take a long, long time to rebuild, but PE Obama is on the JOB!

I hope everything is wonderful for you! :hi:

9. Sorry about the dismal devastation in your state....but with Obama paying attention,
it will be made less worse than for those who have been devastated by natural disasters in the past 8 years.

13. Merh, thank you so much
This means so much, coming from a Katrina survivor! The governor said during her press conference today that she is grateful we haven't lost anyone. Just stuff.

We can replace the stuff.

In the meantime, I am HOPING that PE Obama gets right on what's happening on the Gulf Coast; there are still so many there who are desperately trying to rebuild. Still.

Thinking of you, and I hope your new house is bringing you a lot of joy!

14. I don't know
Hopefully, that'll be announced in the next few days.

Let's hope that FEMA is returned to its former efficiency!
