Judge deals blow to secret logs
WASHINGTON - A federal judge yesterday rejected the Bush administration's attempt to keep secret the identities of White House visitors and declared that the government illegally deleted Secret Service computer records.
U.S. District Judge Royce Lamberth rejected the argument that revealing Secret Service logs would impede the president's ability to perform his constitutional duties.
The deletions ceased after the archivist to the United States instructed the Secret Service to stop the practice and after various organizations went to court to gain access to the logs, according to papers filed in the case.
In one lawsuit, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, is seeking logs for White House visits by a Texas businessman who allegedly tried to sell access to administration officials in exchange for contributions to Bush's presidential library fund. - AP
This was argued how long ago?
I can't recall as I type this, but haven't we been seeing these page 4, small type, unheralded headlines a lot of late? Shit that we were screaming for a few years ago are now being ruled upon - favorably? Just in time for the next minority party (you know who they are) can use them to harass the living shit out of the next President?
Where the hell were all these now-brave judges when we needed them?
I swear ....... Banana Republic is more than a clothing label.
