3. the story i heard was he ordered them to bail out over an island that tortured americans to death,
he then bailed out where it was safe

why did not one of his fellow airman step up and say what a great pilot he was during the war

4. No - it was over water off Chi Chi Jima
He jumped at the same time as one other crew member whose chute didn't open.

I don't see anything in this story to criticize Bush for.

5. One crew member jumped with him
but his chute did not open. The other didn't make it out of the aircraft for what ever reason.

With his aircraft on fire, I suspect there was not much time to do much of anything except get out as quickly as possible.

6. Solace lay in the knowledge that in 50 years or so USS.GHWBUSH will be a rusting pile of scrap metal

7. Say the worst things you can about George H. W. Bush's
political life and I will probably agree with you.
However, during World War II Bush could have ducked
out like other rich boys and been an aide in the Pentagon,
he chose instead to become a carrier pilot and went
into harms way. For that I have the utmost respect for him.

8. It was a purely political move dictated by his father, Prescott.

Trying to clean up the treasonous family name.

(Look, the RW said that JF Kerry joined the Navy for political reasons, so considering the constant transference of the RWers, I'm saying that about Poppy.)
