I am so sad tonight about Elizabeth Edwards.
Edited on Thu Mar-22-07 10:04 PM by Blue_Roses
I remember when they came to my hometown while campaigning in 2004. I took my two kids, who are the same age as their two young ones, and the excitement in the air was intoxicating. I could relate to her trying to "rope in" the kids while John spoke. They wanted to be next to their daddy. My kids were squirming too, because they wanted to get closer to see what was going on. Elizabeth never broke her smile. It too, is contagious.

I believe in miracles and I know they are strong, but tonight, I'm pretty bummed.

1. I admire them both so much
I spent the evening making a video tribute ... I felt like such a gushy fan or something, but they both seem like such the real deal to me, if that makes any sense.

5. I feel the same way.
I think it's 'cause we can relate to them on so many levels and when I saw them in person, they became real. I have a lot of respect for them.

2. I'm very sad, too
I keep finding myself thinking about her; it just won't leave my mind.

I don't want her to have to go through any more of those medical treatments but I guess there's no way around it.

8. me too
I even went to the American Cancer website to find out more so I could understand better what she's going through (actually very informative for other reasons too!)

3. I'm feeling incredibly sad tonight too.
I even came home early from work today because I was just no good at work late in the day. I went to bed, but I wasn't sick. Just heart-sick.

9. I know what you mean
it's one of those feelings where you just want to sleep for a while.

4. I'm sad too, but we have to help
IMHO, YMMV. She's fighting like hell. We have to fight right along beside her. Not just for her continued health, but for the things she and her husband believe in.

Job One: Healthcare coverage for all Americans. It's long past time.

7. yes, definitely true
on everything you said. Health care has been an issue for us lately with my husband switching jobs and losing our health care. I literally felt the impact of that recently when I went to the emergency with a pinched nerve. Scary to not have health insurance.

6. My husband surprised me while we were watching their announcement.
He got all choked up and had tears in his eyes. Well, I did also, but its not uncommon for me to do that. He was really very upset.

10. she is great
This is terrible news. But I'm glad they are continuing, I get the feeling being president is a lifelong dream for John Edwards and it wouldn't be right to give up on it now.

11. I agree and it keeps them focused on something besides
these difficult times now.

12. Who knows what will happen? If she can gain some time - they are making
new advances every day.

7 years ago cardiologists told my brother his heart had gone into total failure mode and, at the most, he would have 2- 3 years. Last year they dropped him from their heart failure program as he was so much improved they needed his slot for sicker people.

13. that 's wonderful news about your brother
and I agree, medical science has greatly improved. It's time for a cure for cancer though...way past time.
