Karl Rove sets the GOP Senate Strategy
http://www.americablog.com/2009/01/karl-rove-sets-gop-senate-strategy.html

Call me crazy, but I think it's going to be very difficult to be post-partisan and get all cozy with Republicans when the master of divisiveness, Karl Rove, is setting the GOP strategy. He's took the lead on the opposition to Eric Holder and the GOP Senators dutifully followed:

What was considered a smooth path to confirmation has recently been complicated as signs of hostility toward Holder have increased over the past month. Political operative Karl Rove and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), for example, singled out the longtime Washington lawyer as the candidate who would face bruising questions.

1. Obama should just appoint him on an interim basis then, and
Turn him loose, with all the powers granted by the Bush Administration, on Karl Rove, Mitch McConnell, and any other shit-stain Republican who wants to be an obstructionist.

2. The GOP will have a VERY hard time bringing up pardons
Edited on Sat Jan-10-09 02:12 PM by Gman
after Bush issues his pardons for himself, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, et al. A VERY hard time and look credible at the same time, if that were even possible for the likes of McConnell and the rest of the GOP nuts.

15. LOL! "...moral codes, our Tradition of Fair Play..." LOL!
We're talking Republicans here. They have no moral codes. They think fair play is a sign of weakness.

pick a repub to be the new AG...I think the lady out in California who put Duke Cunningham away and then got fired by Karl because she did a good job, would be a great choice.

5. Oh noes! No KKKarl Rove!
We all know what an unholy terror he's been the last two election cycles! Look out! Run! PH43R!

Color me less than worried. Obama seems to have taken Mr. Rove's measure, and found him wanting.

14. Exactly. Karl Rove's strategy is dirty tricks...
and Obama seems to have figured out how to counter those and make the Rovians hoist themselves on their own petards.

My bet (though it's still early to be able to tell much) is that the Rethugs will make a loud screeching noise, but won't be able to stop Holder.

10. Hopefully, Obama has a plan.
Edited on Sat Jan-10-09 02:56 PM by backscatter712
Maybe that plan is that he already knows who's going to vote for and against Holder, and he can just stand his ground and watch the Republicans get shouted down.

Maybe it's a little more sophisticated - sort of like that Price Is Right strategy Obama's taking for the stimulus bill.

I suspect that Obama's enticed a few moderate Republicans with some tasty earmarks if they vote for cloture.

12. Quite a simple way around, actually.
Assuming Reid has a fraction of his balls left. Just recess the Senate, then Obama makes a recess appointment which lasts until 2011.

Still Dems deserves this - Rove should be in a cell in a maximum security prison.
