Boehner: Stimulus may not be done by Presidents Day

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) on Sunday indicated that Congress may not be able to pass a massive stimulus as quickly as President-elect Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) want.

“I think it needs to be finished in the Congress and on the president’s desk as quickly as possible,” Boehner said on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” adding that the country needs a stimulus measure at this time.

“American families and small businesses are suffering. We need to do this quickly, but we need to do it in a responsible way,” Boehner said. “And whether we can do it in a responsible way that quickly is unknown.”

2. I think that as good citizens
we should call these assholes daily and let them know what we think. If it doesn't change their minds, it will at least take up all their time to answer the phones. Who cares if it's "your" senator or representative? I say DU them.

8. I think you're right.
We need more people calling. It's the very least we can do..but that teensy bit of action doesn't seem very popular. It's not like it's difficult.

3. They had some press conf with him & some other Republican
twit on PBS the other night going on about the need to be "responsible". My poor DH came into the room to see why I was yelling only to shake his head when he heard them. God/dess but they have total and unmitigated gall to talk about "responsibility" now. Pfft!

At least the next bit gave me some comfort as Pelosi came on afterward saying there would be no President's Day recess if it's not done. Ha! GOOD! Make them all sit there until the darn thing is DONE and done so those who really need the help, the poor, unemployed and middle class can finally GET some.

4. Why do the pukes still run congress and dictate terms and the Dems never actually exercise control?
I guess the answer might be that corporate America actually runs the show and the pukes are their chosen surrogates.

9. exercising opinion is not exercising control..
it's nice to see the media is still exercising control over what they choose to highlight/report.

13. stimulus isn't going to make a g-d bit of difference to those who are unemployed...
They don't even consider them. Also, after unemployment runs out, they no longer count the people as 'unemployed'. Until this is addresses, an economic stimulus package won't do too much.
