Does anyone outside of a small circle of friends really take the Washington Times
seriously...

I mean really, there are suburban papers in the country that have larger circulations.

There are thousands of Daily papers that are not owned by a fanatical religious quack.

So how come chat shows continue to give this marginal newspaper a place at the opinion tables.

Honestly.

1. They give it so much face time because of the unbelievable financial power of that religious quack
and because the media are, for the most part, pretty right wing.

3. They treat them as if they are legitimate..
I have to admit that occasionally they have a good news but the opinion page is what gets the people on the shows and that is when they prove to be banana wacko.

2. Well, since I've never seen it...
I can only guess.

Maybe the owner/publisher wants to keep it going out of a sense of "I must do this" or a sense that the paper fills an important niche?

4. I actually read it daily.
If you want a good idea of the wingnuts opinion on things, it's the paper to read. Some of it's reporting is actually fairly good. Their editorial pages are priceless if you want to keep abreast of what right wingers are using as talking points. Plus it's quite useful as a kitty litter pan liner.

7. It used to be great to read about a DC event in both the Post and the Times
And wonder if it was the same thing. When I had direct knowledge of the event, often both were wrong. Then there was the ad in the DC Metro. "What do you call a Washington Times reader.....a Post graduate". Those were the days...when I could get a paper or two delivered to my door. *sigh*

6. My friends started laughing hysterically when I referred to it as the "Moonie Times"

8. There should be a circulation statement for it somewhere
Be interesting to know what they are claiming as audited circulation. It used to be cheaper than the WashPost as well.
