$25 to put your name on a Congrats Obama newspaper page! WTF
I saw an ad in today's AZRepublic about listing your name on their 'Congrats Obama' page on Jan 21.
Sounds like a neat idea, huh? Yep, I thought so to... til I went to the webpage. (https://subscribe.azcentral.com/congratsobama/index.php)

For *only* $25 you can have your name included. Un-bleeping-believable! The ad doesn't mention any fee involved.
I'd rather give the money to a charity who could really use it than waste it on this.

Anyone ever hear of a newspaper pulling this crap before? :grr:

1. At this point, newspapers are desperate for any revenue they can get.
I haven't heard of something like this before, but it doesn't surprise me. Print journalism's financial state makes the auto industry look like an economic powerhouse.

4. I don't object to them making money, it's the dishonesty
of not mentioning a fee in the ad and then charging $25 in tough economic times for just printing a name in the paper.

12. Send a postcard. Better chance of getting there.
All of the WH mail goes to a "processing center" because of the anthrax nonsense. Post cards have a better chance of getting through.

my old rag of a paper, owned by the Quayles, who hates Mexicans and loves Arpaio, loves speculating over the Gov's sexual orientation and has picked every repuke for years..

Im surprised but its still not enough to get me to buy one of those rags.

Not too surprisingly though, they did name McCain Arizonan of the Year... :eyes:
Some things won't change.

But it's the only paper in town any more so I read it and try to glean what news I can from it.

11. They're essentially selling a WANT AD.
It's a revenue scheme. They think people will save the paper, because it is "historic."


I strongly doubt that Obama will open the paper and read the stupid names, anyway. If anything, the AZ Democratic Party might check those names against their donor lists, but that's about it....
